Designer Aubrey Sookram was inspired by Nepal for the 2013 Omaha Fashion Week. She has dedicated proceeds from the event to help Nepalese children orphaned from political unrest in their country. Her caring spirit was shown by the Love Conquers All print on her designs. The Love Conquers All print would make a lovely print for cards, bags, et cetera.
Ms. Sookram's collection, while inspired by the Nepalese children, at times was a bit confusing and at other times truly stunning. If the items were meant to be pajamas then it made sense but a couple of the painted items were a bit on the crafty side. However, the overall collection was really nice. Sookram should focus on her boys clothing to extend her line because it was refreshing and new work that any little boy would look cool wearing. It was terrific to see a more heavy focus on boys as 50 per cent of the population seems to be left out more than half of the time. The hand prints on the knees was perfect boy wear. The length of the shorts was spot on.
Three of the girls' dresses were exceptionally stunning. The models, styled by T'eez salon, looked perfectly styled. The first stunner was a hand-painted straight skirt under a tiered bubble skirt and halter top with large waistband. The painted sky and trees were adorable under the skirt and added a really nice touch to the muted color scheme. From the back, this dress was darling with a lace tie and bare back. The second dress that really stood out was a sweet tulle style tutu skirt with front painted panel in blues and greens. The lace tie in front and grey and white color palette are not over taken by the painted panel.
Probably the most successful piece, was the most darling dress with hand prints on the side. The color palette and styling were really perfect to give this look all the special touches and then they small sign of hand prints which touches all our hearts and the love conquers all print on the back touched the heart.
