Intown families, or those who like to come Intown, get ready. Atlantic Station is putting up a playground! The ribbon-cutting for the new play structure will be on Tuesday August 6, 2013 at 10 A.M. The playground will be in the corner of 17th Street and State Street (next to the electric car charging station) and will be open to the public 8 A.M. to dusk. The structure will have disability access, be shaded, and fenced in.
Equipment will be age appropriate, with some areas dedicated to 2-5-year-olds and other areas for 5-12-year-olds! Also, a merry-go-round will be the centerpiece to the play area! Being comfortable is important to moms of course, so there will be benches to relax on and certain play areas will be shaded/covered.
The Atlantic Station playground is yet another piece of evidence that the community is trying to reach back out to families and eschewing the party reputation it had been getting. Atlantic Station also now offers a weekly TotSpot, which is an enclosed outdoor play area for children five and under and their caregivers. Kids can play with a variety of outdoor toys in shaded comfort, while moms get some much needed social interaction. TotSpot will occur every Tuesday through September from 10 A.M. to noon in Central Park.
Atlantic Station is a "live/work/play" community located in the Midtown area of Atlanta. With unique shopping, delicious restaurants, and a variety of events, it has become a destination for tourists and locals alike.
