Class connect sessions are a pain in the backside for many parents. They know that they’re necessary and valuable for their children. Kids need that time with their teachers, actively learning. They even need the time with their peers, as frustrating as those times might be. They are also extraordinarily inconvenient. They’re scheduled more in the middle of the day, when more students are likely to be engaged in schoolwork. That works out great if your child prefers a later start, or if you’re an early-starting family who is just finishing up around lunchtime…but what if you have something else that you want to accomplish that day? If you have more than one child enrolled in the Virtual Academy at a time, it can be even more frustrating—class connect sessions scheduled at different points throughout the day, with no rhyme or reason to it.
How are you supposed to get anything else done? Half of the fun of having your children at home with you is supposed to be a little bit of freedom. If you want to take off for the day and enjoy their company, that should be a real possibility. Unfortunately, virtual schooling isn’t quite as flexible as you might prefer. Luckily, there are some things that you can do to even things out—even with multiple class connect sessions that have to be dealt with.
