So, you've finally decided to take the plunge and focus on a fresh natural beauty routine. Though it's challenging to banish away with old products, following this route can be incredibly important to help rid yourself of problematic skin. And one of the best oils to begin introducing into your regime is Argan Oil. This plant oil is native to the country of Morocco, where it's extracted in a tedious process from the kernels of the Argan tree. Though many Moroccans use the oil for food consumption, over the past several years many have introduced this as a luxurious beauty product. Though many beauty products today boast about using this oil in it's products; it's mostly a saturated version of the original, only using a small percentage of the actual oil. Which is why it makes it vital for newcomers to actually purchase the original oil in it's cold pressed, organic form. If you find a bottle that states it's Argan Oil but isn't 100% labeled as such (or for that matter not held in a dark glass bottle) do not waste your money. This product from various companies (Josie Maran and Now to name a few) can be pricier, but the results are well worth it. Some of the uses of this oil can include (but are not limited to):
- On wet hair, use a couple small drops and massage through strands to improve split ends and heat damage.
- Use as a face wash with the popular OCM (oil cleansing method) to help unclog and lift sebum from pores.
- After showering, use as an all over body and face moisturizer. Particularly focus on massaging all over face and gently around the eye area.
- For a bed time manicure/pedicure, generously rub oil all over hands and feet and sleep in socks and mittens. When you awake remove items for luxuriously soft hands and feet.
Though this oil can be greasier on hair and should be avoided being used on the scalp (it is also best used in the evening on wet hair vs dry), it easily sinks into the skin in comparison to other facial oils. It's also a fantastic oil that fights acne and can calm down reactions from keratosis pilaris. One other vital step before trying any product is to do a patch test on your skin to see if new product will react well with your skin; since everyone will have different tolerance levels to products. Overall this is a fantastic moisturizer that should be introduced into a newcomer's natural beauty routine.
