Ipsy’s April bag theme is “Beauty Rocks!” The style of this bag is probably my least favorite from all of the bags I have received, but I still love that Ipsy subscribers get a bag each month. The bags can be handy for organizing your makeup or simply storing cotton swabs (or other toiletries) under the sink. So ugly bag or not, they're all useful! Now on to the makeup! This month I received five items.
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil in Black Velvet
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil in Black Velvet in sample size, but a very generous sample – almost full size. Many complain about receiving eyeliners in Ipsy bags, but I absolutely love them! Eyeliners are a must-have for me, and I can’t have enough. I was a bit disappointed that the tip broke as I put this on, so it’s not the best-quality sample. However, it did last without smudging the whole day (or the 5-6 hours that I had it on).
Demeter Jasmine Perfume Oil Roll-On
Next up was a Demeter Jasmine Perfume Oil Roll-On, I think it’s travel size. Perfect scent for the spring season, that is if you like jasmine’s. I prefer sweet scents over outdoors, so I’ll just be gifting this one to my mom.
Cailyn’s Tinted Lip Balm in Apple Pink
Also in my bag was Cailyn’s Tinted Lip Balm in Apple Pink, full size. For a lip balm, it is very pigmented, which may be good or bad – depending on your personal taste. I don’t mind it, but it didn’t last on my lips longer than an hour or two. And I felt that it goes on too dry, so I had to wear my Maybelline clear moisturizing lip balm over it. It’s also too obnoxiously big for my liking. It wouldn’t fit on a clutch and would crowd my purse.
Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion Skin Exfoliant
Lastly, I got Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion Skin Exfoliant in sample size. Ouch, this felt like sandpaper on my skin! Maybe it’s just me, but my skin did not like this product at all. I could still feel the sting all over my face minutes after. I will not be using it or recommending it to anyone.
Elizabeth Mott Pop! Goes the Shadow in Champagne
First, a full size Elizabeth Mott Pop! Goes the Shadow in Champagne. I love the cute, small packaging. The champagne color is very natural, which I really look forward to using for almost ‘no-makeup’ looks. I can’t say though that I don’t already have four or five eye shadows that are very similar in shade. Still, I will be using it as it is one of my favorite colors for eye shadows.
