Italian tenor, singer and songwriter Andrea Bocelli who has received much support from Latinos and has recorded an album in Spanish will be this year’s recipient of the 2014 Billboard Lifetime Achievement Award at the Billboard Latin Music Awards.
Bocelli who will receive the honors during the live broadcast of the 25th Billboard Latin Music Awards will also perform along with a select list of performers at BankUnited Center in Miami, Fla. Thursday, April 24.
Andrea Bocelli with 22 years in the music world has been a stupendous accomplisher and it does not go unnoticed not even in the Latin music industry. He is a two-time Billboard Latin Music Award finalist in the categories Latin Pop Albums Artist of the Year, Solo, and Latin Pop Album of the Year with his album "Pasión". It is Bocelli's first Latin album which featured duets with Jennifer Lopez and Nelly Furtado spent three weeks at number 1 in the Latin Pop Albums chart. Bocelli, who will be touring in the U.S. in December of this year, previously garnered two top 10 songs on the Billboard Latin Pop Airplay chart with "Vivo Por Ella" in 1998 and “Vive Ya in 2008.
The Billboard Lifetime Achievement award is presented to an artist whose influence has marked Latin music around the world. Previous recipients of the Billboard Lifetime Achievement Award include Los Temerarios, Vicente Fernandez, Celia Cruz, Joan Sebastian, Marco Antonio Solis, Miguel Bose, Conjunto Primavera, Carlos Santana, Emmanuel, Intocable and Jose Jose.
Also scheduled to perform during the Billboard Latin Music Awards are pop music superstar Laura Pausini, Spanish pop singer David Bisbal, Colombian singer and songwriter Juanes, and legendary Mexican music band La Arrolladora Banda El Limon De Rene Camacho.
