"American Idol" season 12 now has 10 boys and 10 girls left in the competition. Tonight the 10 girls will take the stage. By the end of the week only five of them will remain. "American Idol" announced on March 4, 2013, that they have added a new way to vote. Tonight fans will be able to use the "SuperVote" to vote for their favorite girls after the show.
The American idols will be split by gender this week for the last time. Ten girls will sing tonight and 10 boys will sing on Wednesday night. These shows air live and the audience must vote to keep their favorites in the competition.
"American Idol" will air three times this week. The Tuesday and Wednesday shows are two hours long. Results are then revealed on Thursday night and 10 of the 20 American idols are sent home. After that big cut, only one idol will leave each week. The season finale is scheduled for May 16, 2013, which is early compared to past years.
The results show airing on Thursday is a 90-minute episode. It is rumored to include some sort of wildcard competition because there is no way a results show can take that long. After such a drastic cut the judges may have the power to save a contestant or two from elimination.
All of the singers listed with a photo below are still in the competition. These 10 girls are officially half of "American Idol's" top 20 and all are performing tonight. "American Idol" regularly airs every Wednesday and Thursday on FOX channel WAWS 30 in Jacksonville, Fla.
