Something must have been in the air because these celebs all decided to plan their weddings around the same time. Some weddings were expected while others were kept secret until the ceremony's end. However all these weddings were indicative of the couple and represented what their life might be like together. So here is a look at each wedding and how they made their special day...well, special.
Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie - August 23, 2014
The most high profile wedding of last week was the long awaited nuptials of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie (Mr. & Mrs. Smith). The acting duo have been together nine years and have six children between them. The cozy ceremony was held at the chapel on the couple's Château Miraval estate in Correns, France and included only 20 guests who were kind enough to keep mum about the ceremony until its conclusion. Jolie's dress was designed by Atelier Versace and the veil featured drawings from her children sewn into the material. So far public response to the unique veil has been positive, which can only mean imitations are sure to follow. Leave it to Jolie to start a new trend on her wedding day.
Dwyane Wade & Gabrielle Union - August 30, 2014
Dwyane Wade and actress Gabrielle Union (Being Mary Jane) also made their union a family affair. The couple is pictured right with Wades two children from a previous marriage along with Wade's nephew, whom he is also raising. The ceremony was held at water-locked Chateau Artisan castle in Miami, FL and the guest list included fellow Miami Heat players Chris Bosh, Shane Battier and former Heat player, LeBron James. Singer John Legend serenaded the couple and the nuptials were officiated by actress Essence Atkins. Afterwards, the couple ended the black and white affair with a juke joint themed reception where everybody partied like it was 1939.
Donnie Wahlberg & Jenny McCarthy - August 31, 2014
Jenny McCarthy and New Kids On The Block band member Donnie Wahlberg made it official this weekend. The couple dated for a year and announced their engagement on The View during McCarthy's short stint as co-host. They tied the knot on Sunday at the Hotel Baker in Chicago, IL and McCarthy broke the mold, opting for a Bergdorf Goodman dress instead of a custom designer dress. The wedding reportedly lasted only 20 minutes and guest included close family members, friends and co-workers. Notably, Wahlberg's movie star brother, Mark, was not in attendance. He sent his congrats via Facebook and twitter, citing that he was working and unable to attend because it was his daughter's birthday as well. Luckily, the absence didn't dampen the day.
Evan Ross & Ashlee Simpson -August 31, 2014
Singer Ashlee Simpson tied the knot for a second time. She married Diana Ross' son, Evan Ross, at his mother's Connecticut estate in a ceremony that was officiated and serenaded by the Motown diva. The wedding had bohemian feel, which starkly contrasted from Simpson's Alice In Wonderland themed wedding to Fall Out Boy singer, Pete Wentz. Simpson wore a long sleeved wedding gown along with $750,000 of Neil Lane jewelry and a tiara for an added princess touch. Older sister and pop singer Jessica served as Simpson's matron of honor and Ross' half-sister, actress Tracee Ellis Ross, was the master of ceremonies.
