While maybe not as taken into account as the mechanics and overall delivery of the game itself; the playable races in Neverwinter have done a superb job of representing each in their preservation of the tabletop Dungeons & Dragons look and feel of the game. If we take a moment and compare how they look in the game versus some of the illustrations that we've had of each, the degree by which Neverwinter has managed to maintain these representations can prove quite impressive.
Most of the players in this game are likely aware of the D&D background that created the foundation of this MMORPG; but how many have managed to recognize just how well the graphic designers have adhered to the recognized imagery of each of the races? After decades of many of these races being represented within players' imaginations and from the illustrations within the rule books, it may come as a surprise to some just how well Neverwinter managed to retain and convey them.
The list of this article not only provides some insight and details on each of these races, but also provides both an in-game image along with an artistic rendition of them. Though some of the game character renderings are very similar, rest assured that each character creation has a number of options for customizations and can easily be designed differently than those seen in the list.
Those familiar with the races of the Dungeons & Dragons Forgotten Realms, may recall other races that are not seen in this list, nor within the Neverwinter game, as of yet. Rest assured with the momentum at which the developers are releasing content, it's only a matter of time before their addition to the character creation selections makes its presence known!
