A great museum with lots to do and many fun exhibits is the Kohl Children’s Museum in Glenview. This museum houses permanent and temporary exhibits. Most museums have a lot of science and math background, but this museum goes back to main focus of child development-play and imaginary play.
When you first arrive you seem to have been placed into a small town. There are many small shops to stop buy and see what is happening. Kids can pretend to be whoever they want to be that day. They have a vet, where kids can take care of stuffed animals and nurse them back to health, a full grocery store with aisles and with cash registers and belts as well as shopping carts. A doll daycare so they can take care of many babies at once, and know what its like to be a teacher. They can run a Potbelly restaurant-take orders, answer phones, run the cash register and make food. You can’t also forget the car shop, were kids can work on fixing cars. There is just so much to do!
The museum also does have science and math concepts. They have a giant water works area, where kids can go under a dome and be right in the water area, without getting wet.
