8 women who owned at the Golden Globes

Can we just say how glad we are that Anne Hathaway is finally having a winning season? Anne was the most excited of all losers when Kate Winslet bested her at award show after award show for her work in "The Reader" and "Revolutionary Road".  Hathaway herself had turned in a stellar performance in “Rachel Getting Married”, celebrated Winslet’s first Oscar win more exuberantly that we expect to see her celebrate her own win come Feb. 26.During the presentation of that award Shirley MacLaine wisely--and apparently prophetically--advised Hathaway to keep singing while introducing her.  See Anne’s tearful joy at hearing MacLaine speak about her and her raucous celebration for her competitor here. Though we can’t say if Kate the Great will be in attendance at this year’s Academy Awards, it’s certain she will be cheering Anne along with the rest of the movie-watching world.This time around Anne seems unstoppable in the Best Supporting Actress category. That she thanked Sally Field, her biggest competition, at length during her acceptance speech at the Globes only made her more endearing.If you haven't heard about Jodie Foster's acceptance speech at the Golden Globes by now, you're probably dead. That said, she made a lovely and insightful speech about longevity and privacy in Hollywood. The 70th Annual Golden Globes made quite plain that Hollywood is currently flush with powerhouse women.

The Best Actress categories were loaded with a staggering amount of talent this year--Sally Field, Meryl Streep, Judi Dench, Claire Danes, Dame Maggie Smith, Julia Louis Dreyfus, Jessica Chastain and Jennifer Lawrence were but a few of the nominees--but women who worked behind the scenes also earned their due props. Kathryn Bigelow earned a nomination for her directorial efforts on “Zero Dark Thirty”, while “Girls” creator, scribe and star, Lena Dunham received attention in the form of praise, and some ribbing, from legendary female comedians Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.

And while we're on the subject, Amy Poehler and Tina Fey should just host everything. For the rest of time.

It's tempting to list all of the ladies in attendance not named Taylor Swift, but amidst all those stars, a few stood out as the brightest.

  • Claire Danes has been nominated for four Golden Globes over the course of her career. And guess what? She's never lost. Why? Well aside from being phenomenally talented, she also has the best cry face in Hollywood.Oh yeah, and she gracefully shot the action scenes late in the second season of "Homeland" while preggers.
  • Jessica Chastain not only had the best reaction to Amy Poehler's delightfully wicked James Cameron joke, she very deservedly walked away with the prize for Best Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama, for her portrayal of a hellbent CIA agent in "Zero Dark Thirty".In her speech she said that for her, making the movie was a way to thank the real life operatives, such as the woman who her character was based on, for all of the sacrifices they make. Gracious and talented. At this point, we'll watch her in anything.
  • Jennifer Lawrence rocketed to stardom when "The Hunger Games" rolled out earlier this year, but it was her incredible performance in "Silver Linings Playbook" that landed her on the stage accepting an award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical.What many people took as a jab at Meryl Streep at the start of her acceptance speech was actually a well-placed "First Wives Club"reference. She went on to thank producer Harvey Weinstein for "killing whoever it was you had to kill to get me up here today."Also, BuzzFeed saw fit to make an entire post about the many reasons JLaw is amazing.
