8 Dogs rescued from the Everglades desperately need forever homes (SLIDESHOW)

SOUTH FLORIDA - The tireless, community rescue group 100+ Abandoned Dogs of Everglades Florida is putting out a desperate plea for help to find homes for the "Long Wait 8", eight loving dogs who've all waited far too long for the final chapter of their rescue journey, a forever home. Although the group rescues and finds homes for hundreds of dogs each year, these eight dogs are still waiting in boarding situations to find the final piece of their rescue puzzle...a final, forever, loving, happy ending.

Fully vetted and restored to health by 100+ after their near-death experiences, these 8 wonderful 'big bully breed' dogs are all young, healthy, loving, 'kissy', and ready to live the lives they deserve.

JJ 100+ Abandoned Dogs of Everglades Florida

JJ was found on the streets trying to survive.  Wandering alone, malnourished and filthy, JJ had a big gash above his eye. He's all healed up, filled out, and ready to be loved. JJ's a happy, kissy guy you'll want to meet!

Angel 100+ Abandoned Dogs of Everglades Florida

Angel, rescued from horrible conditions, has never stopped being gentle, kissy and loving. She is 2-4 years old, great with children but, like many dogs who had to learn to survive alone, must be your only pet.

Wilbur 100+

Wilbur is a handsome, mostly white dog who is active, friendly, energetic and about 2 years old. He needs a home without children but he is loving and sweet. He's working with a trainer to learn to trust again after his rough start in life.

Louie 100+ Abandoned Dogs of Everglades Florida

Louie (also pictured as this article's headline photo) is a real love-bug. He was rescued after being thrown into a lake and nearly drowning and is named after the BSO officer who saved him. He loves everything and everyone and is a big goofball. Louie is 4-5 years old and can't wait to be yours!

Hailey 100+ Abandoned Dogs of Everglades Florida

Hailey was rescued from the Everglades and a life of misery and bare survival. She is lovable and gentle, sits for treats, and gets along with some other pets. She is strong and energetic so she would be best only with children over 10, who she'd love to cuddle with.

Titan 100+ Abandoned Dogs of Everglades Florida

Titan was rescued after being left tied to a pole. He was just skin and bones, had mange and bite wounds. He's now about 3 years old, glossy and gorgeous, about 70 lbs. (but thinks he's a lap dog!). Titan is affectionate, strong, active and loves to play and run and he requires a home with no other pets.

Octavia 100+ Abandoned Dogs of Everglades Florida

Octavia is 1-2 years old and was rescued in the Everglades/Redlands area with her 8 puppies, whom she was struggling to feed despite her own emaciated condition. This nurturing mama is loyal, wonderful with people, and all alone now that her pups have all been adopted. She needs to be the only pet in the home, but she'll provide all the love you could ask for!

Diego 100+ Abandoned Dogs of Everglades Florida

Diego was rescued literally moments before a euthanasia needle and now this boy is so ready to live his life to the fullest. Super sweet and affectionate, Diego loves everyone and loves other dogs to play with. Be his hero?
