There is a lot of great gourmet food available in the Atlantic City casinos. But where do you go if you don’t want fancy gourmet? You head for Bally’s, right in the center of the Boardwalk, and go to 6ix: A Bistro where you will get good, basic, American-style food at reasonable prices. I recently had the pleasure of dining at 6ix: A Bistro as a guest of Bally’s and Caesars Entertainment.
6ix: A Bistro is a spacious and nicely-appointed dining room. There were three in our party and we were quickly seated in a comfortable booth. Chris appeared within minutes to take our drink orders. Our waiter was Akram. He was courteous, pleasant and provided friendly, efficient service.
The menu has something to suit just about every taste. There is a large selection of burgers and sandwiches for those who don’t want a full meal. There are appetizers, soups and salads, as well as desserts and full platters. A nice touch is that breakfast is available all day.
Our party of three chose (1) Homemade meatloaf platter, (2) Pan seared crab cake platter, and (3) the Guinness pub burger. It was St. Patrick’s Day weekend and this burger was a special feature. Our drink selections were Diet Coke, raspberry iced tea and a strawberry milk shake.
Warm rolls and butter arrived almost immediately, served in an attractive wire basket. Our meals soon followed. The first thing you will notice about the food at 6ix: A Bistro is that the portions are huge. The platters were served with a side of mixed whole green and yellow beans, plus a potato of choice. The mashed potatoes, complete with bits of skin, were superb and I highly recommend this choice.
The food was good and well-prepared. We couldn’t finish it all, especially since we wanted to check out dessert. Two of us split the apple pie a la mode, which was more like a deep dish cobbler. This was really, really good and, like the meal, the portion was humongous. More than enough for two people. Our other diner had the Chocolate X3, a very large piece of layered chocolate cake. Part of that went home in a box to be enjoyed later.
You can click on the pink “View the List” button to see all the great food we enjoyed at Bally’s 6ix: A Bistro. Again, this restaurant is not your typical gourmet casino restaurant. It’s just plain, good, basic food. If your party has varying tastes or you have picky eaters, you’re sure to find something here.
6ix: A Bistro is located on the 6th floor at Bally’s Atlantic City. The dress is casual and the average entrée price is $16 per person. Current hours are 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 12 a.m. on Friday and 24 hours on Saturday. Weekly dining specials are available.
