It’s finally a New Year which means a fresh start and an opportunity to begin cultivating a new you!
One of the more great parts to feeling new is a fresh stock of clothes that emanates a transformation of the old self into the new self.
As the saying goes “image is everything", for the New Year you can readjust or completely restart your look with these 5 starter tips.
Try a New Hairstyle
This one may be the hardest of the bunch and a bit more of a challenge, but the tried and true way to taking on s different look has always been your crafting your crown and glory--your hair!
If you've always worn your hair pulled back into a bun or ponytail then let your hair down for a change. If you’ve had the same hair color all your life why not go a shade or two lighter?
In case you're feeling a little hesitant about drastic changes why not opt for an ombre look? with ombre you still have your original hair color at the roots and an entirely different color at the ends.
If that idea also seems frightening you could always experiment with a new hairstyle via wigs, it’s the secret of many celebrities and the reason why you always see Hollywood starlets with revolving looks.
Switch Up the Theme of Your Closet
Everyone whether they realize or not has a themed closet. If you love sports and consider yourself a gym nut chances are your closet is filled with active gear; sports jerseys and a ton of cotton based outfits, based on this the theme of your closet is athletic.
If you’re into high glamour and majority of your wardrobe is lined with sequins, glitter and fur then your closet is glam girl. In order to find your theme check out your closet and analyze what style of clothing mostly pops up.
If you're mainly a casual dresser switch it up for a change by adding a few glamour pieces, if you're mainly preppy switch it up by adding a few rocker chic pieces. You can fuse different styles or readjust your closet by adding on a few more varying pieces.
Experiment More With Color
If you’re anything like me 85% of your wardrobe consists primarily of black and white. Take a different route for a change by adding subtle hints of color into your wardrobe.
For example those dozens of lbd's you have, they could use a little touch up of color via bright neon hued heels or graphic printed boots. If you’re freaked out about the idea of bright and bold colors you can thread lightly by incorporating delicate hues such as pastels and then working your way up to full on neon and graphic prints.
Toss Out All of Your Makeup Products and Replace Them
This one might be a bit of a stretch, especially considering the thought that your funds may be limited, however getting rid of old and worn out makeup is a perfect way to start off fresh.
If you’ve been carrying that foundation for a year or more chances are it's probably outdated and needs to be replaced. You could never go wrong with sizing up your makeup bag even if it means one product at a time. New makeup is always an easier gateway to a new look.
Begin an Exercise Routine
This one is clichéd but continually relevant. If you have been out of the work out rut for a minute the beginning of the year is a great time to get back into shape.
Not only can you precisely lay out your weight loss/ body shape-up goals, you can also start shedding the clothes along with those pounds-- i.e. get rid of those size 10 dresses that are now too big and replace them with a size 6. Your health and your waistline will thank you for it.
