Now no gym is perfect, and everyone will have their gripes about the gyms they visit on a regular basis. But in reality there are things that happen at EVERY gym that shouldn't be happening at all, many of us keep quite and simply keep on working without batting an eye. Others of us get tired of it all and end up complaining to the staff and management.
Whatever the case may be, there are many things that we shouldn't do at the gym. These are 5 things that shouldn't go on at the gym!
Gym instructors who play favorites
We've all seen this from time to time, the gym instructors who pay attention to only a few select people. Primarily the people they pay attention to are pretty girls/guys and people who are big influences to the gym. What I mean by that are the people who either have contributed to the gym money wise or popular people in general. Instructors need to not play favorites, that just make them and the gym look really bad!
Throwing Dumbbells Around
Even if your gym is covered in rubber mats, I really see no purpose in throwing around heavy weights in the gym. Ok, if you’re maxing out and you have others around you this is the ONLY time I see this as being acceptable. But if you’re just doing your regular sets and throwing around weights every time you lift, then there’s not point to that at all. If the gym is busy this can become a potential hazard to other members.
Talking On Your Phone In The Workout Area
I can’t stand when I’m trying to get in a good workout and I have to deal with people talking on their phones. They take up a bunch of room and make excuses for why they’re on a specific machine for so long. If you need to use the phone, get out of the way. I know I’ve asked people in the past if I could use their machine or whatever, and the response I usually get is “ok I’ll be done in a minute”. Please people, if you find yourself being one of these people, stop doing it and be kind and considerate of other people!
Screaming all the time
Now I can understand if you’re going to for a personal best and maxing out. But if you’re using small weights and warming up and screaming like you’re on fire, than that’s not acceptable. This frustrates others around you and makes you look like a major tool. Don’t be the guy no one likes at the gym, because when it comes time to get a spot, you won’t end up getting it.
Not putting weights back on their racks
Have you ever been to a gym where all the weights don’t match, or they’re scattered about all over the ground? I know I have, and this can be really frustrating especially if your time is limited. Going around the gym in order to find a matching pair can be very demotivating. I know I’ve been to a few gyms where this happens all of the time. If you have time to lift the weights and pick them up out of their spots, then you have time to put them back!
