Cabana Bay Beach Resort opened the first phase of their two phase project just a few days ago. Phase one includes a 600 family suites that sleep up to six guests, a zero-entry pool with a water slide, a 10-lane bowling alley, a Jack LaLanne Fitness Center, and more. Coming this summer will be an additional 300 family suites, 900 standard rooms, a lazy river, a second zero-entry pool, and another restaurant.
Cabana Bay Beach Resort is just right down the road from Islands of Adventure, CityWalk, and Universal Studios Florida. Guests can travel back and forth between the hotel and the theme parks and CityWalk by either bus or on foot.
I personally stayed at Cabana Bay Beach Resort on opening night and I have a lot of things to say about the hotel, but I wanted to share a few of my top favorite things about the hotel.
For a value resort, I can see how this hotel will easily become a popular hotel. The price of the hotel will be significantly lower than Universal Orlando's other on-site hotels plus it will include many other benefits of staying on-site, like early entry into The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and free transportation to and from CityWalk.

Them atmosphere at Cabana Bay Beach Resort is very retro and throwback. It's a very welcoming place for anyone who is interested in staying on-site at Universal Orlando. For someone who may not be interested in visiting the theme parks, it's still a hotel I would recommend for any Orlando vacation. The atmosphere is very welcoming and will make you want to stay for a while.
Cabana Bay Beach Resort is one of the very few hotels I have ever stayed in that makes me feel like I'm at home.. almost. It has that very "home away from home" feeling.
While you might find characters from recognizable brands at the theme parks, you will find characters that stepped right out of the 1950's and 1960's at Cabana Bay Beach Resort. They even play right down to the part of having no idea what kind of high-tech gadgets you're carrying around.
While Cabana Bay isn't a boat ride away, I was very concerned about transportation to and from CityWalk. After taking a bus to and from CityWalk, I was very impressed with how quickly Universal is getting guests to and from. Even hanging around the entrance of the hotel for an hour, I saw buses coming and going one after the other for over an hour.
Universal has really dedicated themselves to get guests to and from CityWalk very quickly.
You're also able to walk to CityWalk from Cabana Bay Beach Resort. Guests currently have to cross the road at a traffic signal, but a bridge for foot traffic will be completed and ready for when the second phase of the hotel is ready.
Universal has the theme of the hotel pretty down-pact. From the classic cars at the entrance to the throw-back dive tower, Universal nailed it.
Guests will find more modern technologies in their rooms like remotes and HD televisions, but they will also find older technologies like analog clocks. It's the perfect combination while keeping it retro enough to fit the theme.
