Last year, our local area saw a first. The first natural hair expo to hit our area, Naturally Redefined. The natural hair movement for African-American women has made national headlines in recent years sparking curiosity within the black community as well as with other races and cultures. On Saturday, September 28, you can take part in the celebration of natural beauty.
This event is not just for African-American women. For years, women with curly hair have been urged to control their unruly locks. By control, old beauty standards meant to straighten them. Harsh treatments and styling via relaxers, thermal straightening, Brazilian blowouts, Dominican blowouts, and flat ironing have taken a toll on curly gals everywhere.
The movement to embrace the hair you naturally have is on. What Naturally Redefined aspires to do is teach acceptance of your curls, coils, and kinks. Learn how to style them and play around with your texture to create different looks. Just to be happy with the naturally, beautiful hair you were born with.
If that is not enough reason for you to attend Naturally Redefined tomorrow here are five more reasons in the attached slideshow.
