Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." is a definite hit. After the success of "The Avengers," it feels only right that such a character-driven universe develops under the creative guidance of Joss Whedon (and family). During the series pilot, I couldn't help but feel like I was coming home - not just to the Marvel Universe I've come to enjoy, but to the themes and poignant, pulling plots that shape and define characters in most Whedon projects.
Of course, the familiarity of the Whedonverse is about more than just hallmark character development. Here are a few other welcome traits that felt markedly familiar.
It's worth noting something dissimilar between "Firefly" and the new show: "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." airs on ABC. Hopefully, this means no premature cancellation. We wouldn't want a repeat of last time. (Whedon fans are still glaring angrily at you, Fox, and now we have a Hulk...)
