Human beings are thinking and feeling creatures. We can express empathy toward one another and even other species—hence; there are many charities in place that aim to improve the quality of life for animals all over the world.
Charities do much to improve the conditions in places across the globe. Many charities are dedicated to the preservation of wildlife in places like the Amazon. Charities can help people find ecological ways to preserve land for both themselves and other creatures and this helps to improve the overall circumstances in a location.
Other animal-centric charities focus on saving a specific creature like rhinos or tigers. These species are disappearing in the wild since they are being hunted for their parts such as horns and furs. Additionally, some animal groups aim to help protect creatures in developed countries—like America—that are homeless or abused in some way. Most of these charities also promote pet adoptions and run no-kill shelters.
Making children aware of the similarities between humans and animals makes them more respectful of other creatures and life in general. In fact, studies have shown that children who grow up with pets and are kind to animals are also more likely to be kind to other people. Disturbingly, people who exhibit violent behaviors (including serial killers) generally start acting out their aggressions by mistreating animals.
