Grocery stores make things easy. Everything is pre-packaged, sanitized, and preserved. However, if you have the time and the will, you can jar and can some foods yourself for cheaper than the store. These recipes take some time, effort, and a lot of counter space, but can end up saving you some big bucks throughout the year. Bonus: reuse the jars and lid rings (as long as they are in good shape) to save money and be kind to the environment. You can also find most of the ingredients at farmers markets or in your own garden!
