While certifications may be overrated, there are five that could be beneficial no matter what type of work or industry someone goes into. Certifications are meant to show that job candidates or employees have the basic knowledge of a certain topic or field to apply it to his/her work.
Certifications are often helpful when there are certain responsibilities in a job that are not directly related to a person’s in-depth experience or direct educational training. Often, it is not even directly related to the person’s job description.
For example, someone may work in Finance at a nursing home. While he/she may not have any experience or education in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), it may be helpful to get a CPR certification in case he/she ever runs into a patient in need of CPR or even a coworker who needs help.
