But given that it's harder this year than ever to find a climate hospitable for lounging by the beach, how bout relaxing indoors to some Spring Break-themed horror films?
Surprisingly, this is a fairly sparse sub-genre, but I've tapped into my mental horror database and have discovered the 5 best horror films where Spring folly is rewarded with slaughter from a variety of malevolent forces.
So peruse the slide show above and let the countdown to March murdering madness begin.
5. 'Jeepers Creepers' (2001)
In 'Jeepers Creepers', a brother and sister traveling home from college over Spring Break stumble onto the scene of multiple murders, and are then pursued by the supernaturally powered killer, who will stop at nothing to satiate his dark secret.
While not exactly a horror classic per se, 'Jeepers Creepers' packs in some fun scares.
4. 'Piranha 3-D'
This remake of 1978's 'Piranha' is a fun horror romp, where scantily clad beach going college kids on Spring Break are gnawed to bits by an ultra-aggressive sub-species of piranha.
Full of goofy one-liners, gross out gags and copious nudity, 'Piranha 3-D' is a true guilty pleasure.
3. 'The Cabin In The Woods' (2012)
This bizarre horror comedy from Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard is a clever deconstruction of the weekend getaway/slaughter-fest genre.
A group of college buddies decide to spend their Spring Break at a remote cabin. What they're unaware of is that they're the subjects of a scientific experiment. Unwitting guinea pigs drawn into a trap of depravity and murder.
'The Cabin in The Woods' is a movie that constantly keeps you on your toes, winking at the audience even while it subverts their expectations.
2. 'April Fools Day' (1986)
'April Fools Day' is one of the more memorable horror comedies from the 80's. A group of college friends spend their Spring Break at an island mansion.
It's the week leading up to Spring Break and the host of the party has planned all sorts of elaborate pranks. But when partygoers go missing, it begs the question; is this all fun and games, or is there murder involved as well?
It's a film that always keeps you guessing, full of great horror gags.
1. 'The Evil Dead' (1981)
Two couples spend their Spring Break at a (wait for it!) remote cabin the woods. But an evil incantation turns their idyllic getaway into a cartoonish nightmare.
Sam Raimi's gross-out horror classic still packs a punch, and is far superior to last year's remake.
So that wraps up our list of the best Spring Break horror movies.
