Week 2 of the NFL season has 14 games taking place on Sept. 15. While most weeks are lucky enough to have one big marquee game, the second NFL Sunday of the year has two. However, despite having what may be the final showdown between Peyton and Eli Manning, this day will be defined by what happens at night in Seattle.
After Peyton’s Denver Broncos visit Eli’s New York Giants at 4:25 p.m. est, all eyes will be on Colin Kaepernick’s San Francisco 49ers visiting Russell Wilson’s Seattle Seahawks at 8:30 p.m. It is the first of at least two showdowns this season between these NFC West and NFC favorites, after the 49ers and Seahawks split last year’s season series with convincing home wins.
With San Francisco’s shootout win over the Green Bay Packers on Sept. 8 and Seattle’s grinding victory over the Carolina Panthers, the two teams looked every bit like the Super Bowl contenders they are expected to be. As such, putting these budding arch-rivals together now will be an early statement on who the real early NFC favorite will be -- and even that trumps the third Manning bowl.
However, there are 11 other games on this NFL Sunday outside of Seattle and New York. Here is a list of the best and worst games in Week 2 in order, starting with the 49ers vs Seahawks.
