Pro Stock points leader Mike Edwards revealed on ESPN2’s Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals coverage on Monday afternoon that he has been racing in pain for the past few weeks, and a visit to the doctor revealed a rotator cuff injury that doctors want to operate on as soon as possible. He showed no signs of pain, however, when it came to wheeling his Pro Stock to victory in the final round against V. Gaines Monday. Shawn Langdon (Top Fuel), Robert Hight (Funny Car) and John Hall (Pro Stock Motorcycle) joined Edwards on the podium at the most prestigious NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series race of the season, taking place at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis.
