The 2013 Bonnaroo lineup has been confirmed and Paul McCartney has signed on as the headliner. The annual four day music and art festival in Manchester, Tennessee has also landed some other major names in the music industry including Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Mumford & Sons, Bjork and Wilco, Wu-Tang Clan, ZZ Top, "Weird Al" Yankovic, Billy Idol, and Dwight Yoakam. Bonnaroo's impressive lineup was revealed Tuesday on the festival's official website -- where even more artists are expected to be announced soon.
Organizers say they couldn't be more excited to have landed such big names for this year's festival. "Top to bottom, this is one of the strongest lineups we have ever had," Reuters quotes Bonnaroo spokesman Jeff Cuellar as saying. "Looking at the festival landscape out there ... no other American festival has Mumford & Sons, Paul McCartney and Bjork all under one roof."
Bonnaroo 2013 will run from June 13-16 and is expected to draw a crowd of between 80,000 and 100,000 campers and music lovers. The festival organizers urges those who flock to Tennessee to enjoy the 96 hours of live music to "prepare for contingencies and be self sufficient" and to "bring what you need and some to share."
The festival -- with its 10 stages and 150 musicians, comedians, and artists -- is compared to other large music fests including Coachella in California.
