2013-2014 Chicago Yellowbook lists 20 golf courses

In January 2013, free delivery to Chicago's residents began for the 2013-2014 Chicago Yellowbook. As of Feb. 9, 2013, most Chicago households and businesses should have received this telephone directory. Page 472 of this book lists 20 golf courses.

These are the listings on page 472:

  1. Billy Caldwell Golf Course
  2. Burnham Woods Golf Course
  3. Columbus Park Golf Course
  4. Daniels L William
  5. Diversey Driving Range
  6. Edgebrook Golf Course
  7. Golf Smitty's
  8. Harborside International
  9. Harborside International Golf Center
  10. Harborside International Golf Complex
  11. Indian Boundary Golf Course Maintenance Department
  12. Jackson Park Golf Course
  13. John Jacobs Golf Academy
  14. Marquette Park Golf Course
  15. Play 18 Indoor Golf Facility LLC
  16. Robert A. Black Golf Course
  17. South Shore Golf Course
  18. S S Marquette Park
  19. Sydney R. Marovitz Golf Course
  20. Western Golf Evans Scholar

Entries #3, #5, #12, #14, #16, #17, #18 and #19 are part of the Chicago Park District. The address for S S Marquette Park (7430 S. Rockwell Avenue) is different from the Marquette Park Golf Course address, which is 6700 S. Kedzie Avenue, so I assume S S Marquette Park is indoor golf. (I hope to get more details for a future article.)

Entries #1, #2, #6 and #11 are part of Forest Preserve Golf. Burnham Woods Golf Course is actually in Burnham, Ill. instead of Chicago. The address listing for Indian Boundary Golf Course Maintenance Department is the same for the golf course of the same name.

Entries #4, #7, #13, #15 and #20 are very likely indoor, golf facilities/instruction that allow golfers to practice using electronic apparatus. (Number 4, #15 and #20 are in downtown Chicago.) Hourly rental fees for simulator use, and club rental fees are likely available.

Entries #8, #9 and #10 are at the same location--10807-11001 S. Doty Avenue. Harborside is a large complex that contains two, championship, links style golf courses; putting greens; chipping greens; and a driving range. (Last year, greens fees were at least $80.)
