The world woke up to some surprising news this morning when a meteor struck central Russia today and injured an estimated 700 people. Oddly enough, an asteroid called 2012 DA14 was expected to fly by the earth at 2:35 p.m. EST today and it was supposed to be the only only cosmic disturbance today.

This very real scenario is reminiscent of Hollywood doomsday blockbusters that have predicted this very thing for years. Bruce Willis who returns to the big screen this weekend in A Good Day To Die Hard, was also well known for his role in Armageddon where he and Ben Affleck played oil drillers sent to destroy an asteroid.

Around the same time Deep Impact had the nearly the same premise of a meteor destroying earth and it was up to Morgan Freeman to save humanity from certain disaster.
