“Pokémon” released its sixth generation video games X and Y today. The new games come hot on the heels of the handheld series' 15th anniversary in the U.S. “Pokémon Red” and “Pokémon Blue” were released in North America on Sept. 30, 1998. Those two original games spawned many new generations afterword. With every game came more memorable Pokémon, battles and music that soundtracked a player's journey. From “Red” and “Blue” to “Black 2” and “White 2,” game composer Junichi Masuda has created music themes that stay with Pokemon fans long after taking down a region's champion. In honor of the new games and the series' anniversary, here is a list of the 10 best songs from the first five generations of “Pokémon.” Click through the slideshow to see the complete list.
