The Queens Economic Development Corporation and lead sponsor Fairway Market bought it's 12th Annual Queens Taste to Flushing's Sheraton LaGuardia East Hotel on April 29, 2014. Queens Taste featured some of Queens boroughs best restaurants, vendors and liquor distributors.
This year's event commemorated the 50th and 75th anniversaries of the 1939, 1964 World’s Fairs at Flushing Meadows Corona Park. More than 800 + guests spent the night browsing, sampling their way around the spacious hotel ballroom.
The variety of dishes included the calamari, shrimp, clams flavorful yellow rice mixed Seafood Paella from O Lavrador Restaurant in Jamaica, Beef Sliders from Woodside restaurant F. Ottomanelli Burgers & Belgian Fries, Christos Steakhouse from Astoria served up flavorful tenderized Braised Short Ribs, Astoria based Bill's Balls offered their imaginative pork scallion - cabbage dumplings, Elmhurst's Argentenian restaurant La Fusta cooked up sausage, tomato, mushroom skirt steak skewers and Mediterranean octopus from Zenon Taverna.
Savory sweets treats attendees indulged throughout the night included Jamaican Coffee Cupcake Bites from Red Hook's Yardie Treats, multiple of Italian Gelato flavors from Desserts That Matter, pastry treats from Ridgewood's Rudy's Bakery and Queens Taste 2014 Best Dessert winning dairy free ice cream from Astoria's DF Mavens.
This year's Queens Taste 2014 Winners were:
Best appetizer: Murphy's Lobster Grill
Best entree: Zenon Taverna
Best dessert: DF Mavens
