Earlier this month, the U.S. Department of Education released its fourth annual update of College Affordability and Transparency information.

Started in 2011 as a requirement of the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008, the data collection project is designed to give college-bound students and their families more information about college and what it will cost.

Some of the lists look at tuition alone, while others compute net price—cost of attendance after average scholarship and grant aid are subtracted. And all the data is separated among public, private nonprofit, and private for-profit institutions.

This year, the Affordability and Transparency Center also added charts showing which institutions have had the highest percent change in tuition and fees and net prices.

Using the handy interactive tool provided by the Department of Education, here are the ten private colleges and universities with the highest tuition (take note while you're at it of the net price information provided):
