The summertime is upon us. This usually means concerts, music festivals, beach trips, road trips and perhaps a handful of dance parties. Ten queer artists, solo and groups, are on the brink of releasing new albums. This means that there are a lot of new singles to listen, and music videos to watch. Not to mention, many shows to attend.
La Roux will release one of the most anticipated albums of 2014. Trouble in Paradise will follow their eponymous debut album, which included the international number-one hit "Bulletproof". The single has sold over 2.4 million downloads in the US alone.
Mika just released a new French single, which will probably be part of his fourth studio album, which does not have a release date yet. This will follow The Origin of Love, in 2012, and Songbook, Vol. 1 his first and only greatest hits set which was released in Italy in 2013.
Sam Smith will likely succeed in following his three number-one hits in the UK, with current single, and seen as his official coming out, "Leave Your Lover". The parent album, In The Lonely Hour, has been released to critical acclaim and landed two weeks on top of the album chart in the UK.
Sexy crooners and US folk artists Eric Himan and Tom Goss, who have worked together in the past, both released singles from their latest respective albums, Gracefully and Wait. Whereas Himan brings in the quirk and adorability to their up-tempo song and its playing dress-up music video, Goss opted for a melancholic yet uplifting ‘coming out of the dark’ single.
Also, singer and lyricist L.P., also known as Laura Pergolizz, has released her third studio album. Despite being known for her 2004 queer anthem “Wasted”, which was part of DC Pride Gay.com compilation in 2004, she has written songs for Erik Hassle, BSB, Aguilera, Rihanna and British sensation Rita Ora.
