Jack Nicholson's self proclaimed retirement now puts him in the club with actors like Sean Connery and Rick Moranis. Though he had a highly-respectable career, fans still think he has more gas in the tank according to a recent article in All Alabama.
Nicholson has won Oscars in three separate decades, the last one coming in 1997 for his popular turn in Brooks' 'As Good As It Gets.' He redefined what a leading man could be in the 1970s and 1980s in movies like 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest,' 'The Last Detail' and 'The Shining'. Decades later he'd do arguably his best work to date in Alexander Payne's 'About Schmidt,' offering the best performance of a given year.
Even after three Oscars and 12 nominations Nicholoson claims to have little to nothing left. His last performance was in 'How Do You Know'. A very forgettable performance he reportedly did as a favor for James L. Brooks.
But despite his in final performances, there is no question Nicholson still has plenty of fans still excited about his every move. He's still seen publicly at Lakers games and still makes us laugh while presenting at the Oscars.
Despite being older, he still looks great for his age. Unlike actors like Arnold Schwarzenegger or fellow retiree Sean Connery, Nicholson doesn't need a solid action movie or a James Bond movie to get his career revamped. His career was based on his own doing, his own merit and his own ability. Perhaps Nicholson might have second thoughts about his retirement. Fans hope so.
