Crystal Renn is now 23 years old, and is a size 12 plus size model.
Her new intriguing book talks about her life, her weight, and her journey; it is set to be released September 8, 2009.
Here are some reviews:
"A riveting read."-- Nigella Lawson
"An eye-opening tale for all women, Hungry explores the difference between the fantasy that society projects and the reality of what makes us happy. Crystal Renn's experience debunks the modern-day Cinderella story of the fat girl who loses weight to get happy. This is a new fairy tale, one in which a young woman embraces the size she's supposed to be and the world opens up for her." -- Lori Gottlieb, author of Stick Figure: A Diary of My Former Self
"Crystal Renn is a high-spirited, convincing spokesperson for broadening our notions of beauty. Hungry adds a unique twist to a growing women's chorus: even if you are young and beautiful, as Renn is, it's best to give up the addiction to slimness for the sake of personal authenticity, social relations, intimacy, and sexual pleasure." -- Joan Jacobs Brumberg, author of The Body Project and Fasting Girls
"Hungry offers an intelligent and intimate look inside the modeling industry and into Crystal Renn's heart. Renn's epiphany -- that she didn't have to be a size 0 to find success and happiness -- serves as a more powerful portrait of strength and beauty than anything a camera could capture." -- Wendy Shanker, author of The Fat Girl's Guide to Life

Comments
Crystal is beautiful. Note: I did not say Fat is Beautiful. Fat is not beautiful...neither is Skinny for that matter! It is foolish to think of either of those as great attributes.
I remember seeing Crystal in Shape magazine-did not know her name then but her face! Lovely and striking. This is not really a weight issue if you ask me. Ugly is still ugly. Fat is often not pretty at all if accompanied by a plain face. Skinny has sometimes an advantage here since people are most likely to bypass the face and just look at the body. None the less, a skinny body and plain face is also...meh. Not impressive. Crystal is a model because her looks DESPITE her weight make your heart stop. No containing that type of beauty.
So enough talk of weight and how models should represent real women...blah,blah,blah. She is lovely and most of us are not. There you have it.
I think plus size models should have the same chance as a thin model there both doing the same work..
