If for no other reason you gotta love Libertarian Party candidates for their creative campaign contribution collection capers.

The Libertarian News Examiner recently ran an article about Colorado LP congressional candidate Rob McNealy who picked out a busy intersection in Aurora and went Panhandling for congress.

(Actually, he didn't accept any money from passing motorists because of a city victimless crime ordinance against panhandling but he and his photo did make it into the Aurora Sentinel.)

Now the Beitler for US Senate campaign has come up with a tee shirt contest.

No, not a wet tee shirt contest, which would be sexist, unseemly and inappropriate for a serious senatorial candidate like the North Carolina LP's Mike Beitler.

His is a Liber-T shirt photo contest.

He wants you to put on a "Mike for US Senate 2010" Liber-T, get yourself photographed in a crowd, and send it to his campaign.

Top prize is dinner with the candidate. The second place finisher snags movie tickets.

"There will also be a contest for individual pictures in Liber-T's," the campaign explains. This time the winning individual's photo will earn it's wearer a $25 gift card to LPStuff.com and the runner-up will get the movie tickets.

(Maybe the runners-up can get together and make a movie night of it.)

To get a "Mike for US Senate 2010" shirt all you have to do is make a donation to Beitler for US Senate.

The contest closes on November 5.

Beitler tossed his hat in the ring. The least you can do is toss a Mike for Senate shirt on.
