Wow.
Two masked gunmen burst into Charles Bailey’s apartment where he was entertaining ten guests, celebrating his birthday. The gunmen started counting bullets, making sure they had "enough," and then separated the men and the women into different rooms to be raped. The gunmen didn’t expect one of Charles’ friends to be packing heat, but he was:
That’s when one student grabbed a gun out of a backpack and shot at the invader who was watching the men. The gunman ran out of the apartment.
The student then ran to the room where the second gunman, identified by police as 23-year-old Calvin Lavant, was holding the women.
“Apparently the guy was getting ready to rape his girlfriend. So he told the girls to get down and he started shooting. The guy jumped out of the window,” said Bailey.
Calvin Lavant was found dead a block away, from a well-deserved gunshot wound to the face, and police say they are close to arresting the second gunman.
This story should illustrate that when things really hit the fan, you are ultimately responsible for protecting yourself and your loved ones. You will probably not have time to wait for help, and most importantly, you will be the one who has to live with the results. You can not count on the police to protect you, and they are not legally obligated to protect you (seriously).
Keep this story in mind as we push for tighter federal gun laws. If that one brave student hadn’t brought his gun to the party (and to be honest, I’m kind of blown away that he did), 10 lives would have been ruined, if not ended. You also might want to ask yourself why no major news outlets have been running this remarkable story, or read John Lott’s excellent essay on the media’s bias against guns.
As for me, my birthday’s not coming up for a while, but I’m asking for a cute little nine-millimeter insurance policy. And if you come to the celebration, feel free to come packin'.

Very nice Justin! Of course, you will never hear anything about stories like this in the mainstream press. I also wrote about this specific incident today in my Examiner article.
Where I come from (The South) brining a gun to a party isn't exactly normal, but its not out of the question. People for some reason have this strange idea that if we tighten gun control for the people who attempt to purchase guns legally, those who acquire them illegally will really be impacted and all of the guns that are out there now will disappear in the same cloud of smoke those people are exhaling from their pipes of disillusion.
You inherited the 12 ga. and I bought you the .22, now you want a 9mm? I guess you can never have too much protection.... anyway, Don't get none on ya and BTW, nice job on the bark.
I need a NEW GUN..I sold mine to a pawn shop as it was old(10 Years) I am a single Woman 50+ and I would BLOW a man away in 2 seconds or less...Men are usually the ones who break in homes..GUNS would have saved many Women who were murdered and raped Horribly..WOMEN Get Smart BUY Weapons
I don't like labels and so I won't be using liberal or conservative...oops, I'll label myself as being a Constitutionalist.
Every time I see either side of the isle vere away from the Bill of Rights, it upsets me. That's why I stay upset most of the time.
One day I see socialism being pushed and the next day fascism. Both sides, plus the executive and judicial, seam to be very annoyed with that instrument our forefathers labored in creating for "We, the People".
Losing our gun rights are only the tip of the iceberg. We are losing our Country!!!!!!!!!!!
I,ve been burgularized, assulted several times
and had my dream car stolen. Although , after several ambulance trips to the emergency room and the same amount of police reports, the cops have beenm able to do absolutetly nothing. If I had a gun things would have been alot different. God Bless America anyway
GOOD FOR HIM!!! That is why every American should have the right to carry a weapon! And, Obama wants to take that away? What is happening to our country and our rights? Putting it in the hands of the government is not the answer. And, relying on the police to help you or save you is not always the best option.
I also wrote about this episode a few months back; it makes for an uncomfortable example for the disarmament freaks who suggest that we just "give them what they want". What if what they want is to rape and kill you?
We humans are an interesting lot. We may be the only species smart enough to avoid violence by choice, but we are CERTAINLY the only life form, in the history of this planet, dumb enough to seriously consider not fighting back in the face of an attack on our lives.
And when discussing the state "taking away" a right, we mis-speak. Rights are not granted by the government; if they were they would be privileges and could be taken away. Rights are innate: your right to defend your life as you see fit is yours not because of where you live but because you are a human being.
If you do not initiate aggression against others, nobody--NOBODY--can lay claim to your life. And if anything is an attempt to claim that you do not own your life, forcible disarmament is
And Justin: although that P95 is certainly capable of protecting your life, there are many other choices that may prove more practical. If the 9x19mm power level satisfies you, the Kahr P9 is much smaller, lighter, and flatter, with a much more agreeable trigger. Then again, the same piece is also available in .40, which is much more forgiving than the 9 (in terms of stopping fights) and no more difficult to control. In the P95's size/weight range, if it were me, I'd go straight to one of the 4" lightweight 1911s in .45 ACP and call it done--much flatter, easier to hit with, and forgiving of whatever ammunition you use. In Ruger's stable, I'd probably go with revolvers: my SP101 responded very well to some light tuning, and the new LCR looks quite promising as an alternative to the Smith J-frames. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a good revolver!
