Health Nazi hopes to fight "Big Food"

Phoenix Libertarian Examiner
You can read the NY Times op-ed here for yourself: just another example of a Birkenstock brown-shirt who believes he knows what’s best for you.
A brief summary: the author, Mr. Michael Pollan, a journalism professor from Berkley, California, openly argues that the state should tell you what to eat and drink. He also writes optimistically on the potential for a beautiful, utopian American future, one in which insurance companies and the state work together to tax fast foods and soda (as they’ve teamed up against tobacco) out of existence. The reason for such Darth Vader visions of America’s future? Easy. Like most national socialists, Mr. Pollan doesn’t believe in personal freedom or personal responsibility. However, he does eloquently demonstrate his belief that the American people are nothing more than thoughtless children who need, in every single aspect of their lives, order, control, and authority. And then more, much more, order, control and authority.
In his self-righteous crusade to fight the “healthcare crises,” (“crisis” always being the holiest of Hosannas in statist diction), Mr. Pollan argues (unwittingly, to his credit) for the historically fascist alliance between business and the state in order to realize the goals of the ever-powerful state. Again, giving Mr. Pollan the benefit of the doubt and, therefore, assuming that he doesn’t even realize he’s arguing for fascist government policies, we must excuse the shameful ignorance of this hapless journalism professor from the University of California, Berkley. That would be the compassionate thing to do.
Some readers might be wondering, “When, dear Lord! When we will these mini-Adolfs mind their own business and just leave us alone?” No one can tell. My guess is, probably never. As long as humanity exists, there will always be do-gooders (big ones like Mussolini and the cute, little ones such as Mr. Pollan and Obama) who will fight to impose their supposed superior beliefs and lifestyles on others. The fact that there seems to be widespread ignorance of the history and ideology of authoritarianism, even by university professors and editorialists for major newspapers, only makes it worse. (But, hey, at least there’s booze, right? At least until they take it away from us, again.)

Jesus h. christ, there is a whole lot of stupid packed into such a short article. Next time cut it out with the cute smugness. Talk about self-righteous! What is it with you libertarians and your pompous populism? Give me a break.
How is that you think nothing needs to be done about factory-farming? Animals are pumped full of steroids, hormones and antibiotics all in the name of a 99-cent double cheeseburger. Animals are slaughtered so quickly that carcasses often come into contact with the meat that is ready for packaging, with their entrails still dripping feces - hence the e. Coli outbreaks...
Please do some research before writing an article. Forty years ago, ten year-old girls did not have breasts. Dismissed as coincidence?!
What exactly is a libertarian anyway? Seems a lot right Consertive Republicanism "light"...
What kind of website would let such an ignorant moron write such vile nonsense? Daniel Heller is a complete idiot, plus he compares Pollan to Nazis. What a joke. Go back to college, Heller, and learn how to construct a coherent argument.
Good article. I'm glad it upset BC and mandrake. They are the people who try to make life miserable.
Funny to see the anti-soda ad there. Hey NYC Dept. of Health, water, seltzer and skim milk are BORING, get it?
