In the 1950's, the Federal income tax amounted to only 2% of the median family income. Americans enjoyed the highest standard of living in the world, usually with only one income. Now, contrast that to the median income family now paying 25% of their wages to Federal taxes, not to mention the additional 25% that government at all levels (state, local, hidden etc.) takes from you. Meaning we work half the year just to pay taxes. Add to that, most families now need 2 incomes just to keep from going bankrupt. The average working mother brings home 32% of the family income. So, basically she is working all year just to pay the family's taxes.
Do you think the government is spending half of your income wisely?
Keep in mind, the government is ever increasing the "money" supply, producing inflation. So, not only is the government taking half of your income at the threat of imprisonment, but now your groceries, clothes, and car cost more due to your money being worth less.
The government is driving your family to bankruptcy. And neither political party has been committed to stopping the growth of government. The Libertarian answer:
- Of over 200 Libertarians currently holding public office, not one of them has ever voted for a tax increase and are committed to never doing so. Demand the same of your representatives.
- Each one of those elected, believes that if government truly existed to prevent force and fraud, we would all be better off.
- Libertarians have been instrumental in repealing State income taxes, particularly in Alaska and ultimately returning resources to the people.
- Printing money is not the answer, free-er people and markets are.
- Less government, less corruption.
Would you give-up your favorite government program in order to abolish the income tax for you and your posterity? The libertarian answer is a resounding yes.
