Former Collin County Libertarian Party Chair Jim Prindle is running for the US House of Reps in Texas' 4th District.
The district includes the Metroplex counties of Collin, Rockwall, and 11 other East Texas counties.
Unlike many Libertarians, Prindle has the creds. He earned a degree in PolySci from USC, interned in Washington, DC, for then New Mexico Congressman Bill (later Governor) Richardson, and served as a Center Fellow for the Center for the Study of the Presidency.
Also unlike many Libertarian candidates, Prindle says, "I have positioned myself to run this campaign fulltime."
And he'll need full time. Already endorsed by the Collin County Conservative Movement, appearances throughout February include candidate forums sponsored by the League of Women’s Voters, the city of New Boston (Bowie County), and the Tea Party, followed by the district LP nominating convention in March with fundraising events and interviews to follow.
Reports and retorts from the Liberterrian:
When Prindle told the Dallas Libertarian Examiner, "I am not running a typical Libertarian campaign just to keep ballot access or to educate the public. I am running to win." it set off the Republo Detector.
All too often when a Libertarian says he's running "to win" he means, "I'm going to water down the libertarian message and sound like a Republican so I won't scare away any votes."
So what do you think? Here's a statement from his hat-in-the-ring News Release: "A Libertarian vote affirms the Constitutional principles of our Founders. Libertarians defend the original intent of the Constitution and the entire Bill of Rights."
Republicans also invoke the Constitution but government gets bigger and freedoms get smaller under their regimes. Liberal Democrats just laugh when the Constitution is mentioned.
So will Prindle walk the walk when he talks this talk from his news release?
"I favor a small, limited government," said Prindle, a Ft. Worth native and current Allen resident, "based on fiscal responsibility, free market capitalism, and the right to live life with minimal government intrusion.”
Here's a good sign: the About Jim Prindle page on his Elect Jim Prindle website says, "Mr. Prindle swore an oath when he entered the Army to ‘Uphold and Defend the Constitution,’" which echoes the stance of the fast-growing group known as Oath Keepers.
The least we can ask of any Libertarian candidate at this point in the libertarian movement is this: obey the Constitution and keep your word.
Run, Prindle, run.

Hey, Garry - Jim is a GREAT guy and he definitely embodies the Libertarian principles. Great article!
I know Mr. Prindle pretty well and I'm completely confident that he'll defend the Constitution with every fiber of his being. He has the 'creds' as you say, communication skills, but most importantly, the belief that the Constitution is the true 'chains binding governmental mischief' and will gladly be bound by it!!
Vote for a change - a REAL change this time. Vote Libertarian, but more importantly, vote for the person - and this is definitely the person for the job!
If the man was in the US Army anytime in the last 40 years he CERTAINLY did NOT keep his oath to defend the Constitution. Theres no way he could have avoided participation, at least indirectly, in the numerous unconstitutional adventures and escapades that involved the US military.
Folks who believe that a piece of paper will deter and even stop sociopathic tyrants and politi-gangsters are living in a dream world. Its time they wake up to reality.
anything is better than what we have now, count me in
