Jim Crow gun laws

In case you own a gun, or might someday want to own a gun, you should know that congressman Bobby L. Rush of the Obama State introduced HR 45 on the first day of the 111th Congress.

Make no mistake; what this bill seeks to impose are Jim Crow laws for gun owners. Since the Supreme Court's Heller decision doesn't allow gun haters to ban guns, they plan to ban gun owners instead.

Under this legislation all gun owners will be required to take a complex written test to qualify for the privilege of exercising their rights as guaranteed by the Second Amendment. The bill authorizes the U.S. Attorney General to write any kind of test he or she wants, but it must contain, at a minimum, the following elements:

“The test must include knowledge of: safe storage, safe handling, use of firearms at home, the risks of firearms at home, local state and federal legal requirements for firearms, reporting requirements for firearms, and ANY other subjects the AG decides are appropriate. You date and sign the submission, making it perjury if your info is inaccurate.” (Full article and horrific ramifications of this bill at Read It News.)

The test is designed to fail as many people as possible. Those who pass will be run through a gauntlet of other byzantine abuses such as forking over tax payments, supplying fingerprints and a photo that can be turned into “a digital facial-recognition number” that can be used as “a de facto national ID,” submitting to onerous re-registration requirements, and facing prosecution and incarceration every step of the way.

All this from a congressman who was a co-founder of the Illinois Black Panther Party in 1968. Apparently he harbors fond memories of Jim Crow.

White Supremacists in the old South used so-called Jim Crow laws to keep what they considered the inferior race in its place. They were as bigoted against Negroes then as African-American congressman Bobby Rush and his ilk are against gun owners today.

It was unconstitutional for Whites to prevent Negroes from voting. So to exclude them from exercising that right anyway, Jim Crow laws included a burdensome poll tax (hence Rush’s gun registration tax today) and a “literacy test” (hence Rush’s gun ownership test today).

Perhaps the bigoted Rush would like to borrow more of those old ideas from Jim Crow. How about forcing gun owners to ride in the back of city buses? How about separate drinking fountains and public toilets for gun owners and gun haters so the self-identified “superior” gun hater will never have to touch anything a gun owner has touched? How about “separate but equal” schools for the children of gun owners?

Should this sign be changed to "Gun
Grabbers only"?

Of course, telling a gun owner from a gun hater on sight is next to impossible. But another bigoted politician had a solution for that little problem. His name was Adolf Hitler and he called his solution The Nuremberg Laws, which required all German Jews to wear a Star of David badge emblazoned with the word “Jude.”

So come on congressman, how about requiring gun owners to wear a gun-shaped badge inscribed with “Gun Nut”? That will make it easier for you and your fellow gun bigots to burn gun owner’s homes and vandalize gun owner’s businesses and spit in gun owner’s faces.

(Since most gun haters are politically left liberal, embracing socialist sentiments, they can take heart in the fact that Der Fehurer’s political party was named Nazi, a catchy abbreviation of its full name, “National Socialist German Worker’s Party.” Change the word “German” to “American” and you’ve got it. What could be more Left than a socialist workers party?)

Unfortunately for congressman Rush, the poll tax and literacy test and all the other abominable Jim Crow laws that he seems to cherish so much were swept away as a consequence of the Civil Rights Movement that took hold in the 1950s and continues in one way or another to this day.

Civil rights advocates back then who sought justice and equality under the law for everyone frequently included young idealistic left liberal activists from the North. Can anyone imagine today’s young idealistic left liberal activists risking life and limb to march and demonstrate for the civil rights of all people to freely own and carry firearms without fear of intolerance and discrimination from America’s gun bigots?

From all appearances, today’s young idealistic left liberal activists will offer no help since most are themselves the gun bigots.

Whoever said, “The South shall rise again” was at least partially right.

I think writing in ANY other things the AG wants to restrict is a little extreme but um...how is this a Jim Crow tax? Literacy tests were discriminatory back in the era of segregation because black children could not attend good schools. I'm not saying there are not disadvantages based on race in America today, because the sad truth is there are such conditions in the inner cities, but I think a common safety test and basic gun safety knowledge exam are not discriminatory. To say so implies, to me at least, that minorities ARE inferior, because they obviously wouldn't be able to pass this test. Of course, that's just me, I may be completely missing the point.

oh, also, the paragraph about Liberals taking comfort from the fact that the Nazis were left wingers? I found that to be really out of place with the flow of the article, it's like the writer just got really angry and equated liberals with Nazis. Which is odd, because one doesn't usually equate Conservatives with Fascists, which is the extreme right wing, just as the Nazis were the extreme left wing.
