The leader of the (growing) free world: Barack Hussein Obama (AP/Photo)
It’s been a while. Perhaps not since John F. Kennedy has the world seen a politician who could make such claims and Kennedy owed half the honor to a family pedigree skilled in grooming. But the fact of the matter is that today President Barack Hussein Obama is the most loved man in the world.
I am not African but who denies that Obama is loved from the horn to the cape. Certainly only Nelson Mandela could match the admiration that Africa sees is this favorite son. I am not of Latin America but Chavez sees an opening that does not smell of sulfur. For reasons of intense national pride I will never claim Russia as my home but even there they appreciate a break in an arms race that has consumed much of our GDP for more than 50 years. And Europe while seeking equity with South America in Rio De Janeiro turns in the very next week and surprises the world by granting an honor reserved for some of the greatest people in history. I am not of Asian descent but now China pushes Korea to sit at the table with America. Comedians say he has done nothing but the leaders of the World understand there is a new unity in the world from the oldest government in the world, the United States of America under the leadership of Barack Hussein Obama.
The very same culture that gave us Rap music, as pointed out by Daniel Shine of Philadelphia, is the culture that has given us our president. A few short months ago we witnessed that this culture is loved around the world with the death of Michael Joseph Jackson. But that was a love that Donny Osmond so accurately described as puppy love and it was only present in death. The growing love that the world has for President Obama is spilling over to all Americans, even to Glenn Beck. The same Glenn Beck who last week and from the perch of the number one network in America laughed at the President, mistaking a respect for Brazil as a slight to the president. The world heard the number one network loud and clear and responded with a prize that is far more valuable than the individual gold of the Olympics.
Only John McCain has stood up to congratulate President Obama from across the aisle. This makes me proud to say that I would of voted for McCain if he had but survived the clashing of cultures in the old state of South Carolina in the year 2000. Now, 2008, has given the United States of America and the world yet another chance to get it right.
While forgotten late night comedians laugh that nothing has been done, we have survived the whispers of the word “depression” which in January were quite loud. Health care has survived a heated August and now seems likely to pass. And after kind yet strong words from the President another believer of our government appears to of survived the philosophy of “every man for himself” in the crowded state of New Jersey. He is the leader of the free world and the star of prime time having left late night television to the jokes of George Bush. He is our President, Barack Hussein Obama: The most loved man in the world.

Right on... And as an American, it's nice to finally say how proud I am.
