On Wednesday afternoon, former vice president Al Gore discussed climate change with MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell. He discussed the science as well as the denialism which plagues the Republican Party regardless of the overwhelming data supporting climate change theory. He also discussed the leaked emails from climate scientists, which he stated were taken completely out of context.
In addition, he responded to questions asked about an Op-Ed in the Washington Post written by Sarah Palin which attacks climate change theory as well as the conference in Copenhagen.
In response to the denial persistent within the country’s conservative movement, Gore stated,
"The global warming deniers persist in this era of unreality. After all, the entire North Polar ice cap which has been there for most of the last three million years is disappearing before our eyes, 40% is already gone, the rest is expected to go completely within the next decade ...what do they think is causing this?
The mountain glaciers in every region of the world are melting, many of them at an accelerated rate threatening drinking water supplies and agricultural water supplies…we have these record storms drought floods, fires, tree deaths in the American West, climate refugees…These affects are taking place all over the world exactly as predicted by the scientists who have warned for years that if we continue putting 90 million tons of global warming pollution into the atmosphere every day the accumulation is going to trap lots more heat, raise temperatures and cause all of these consequences that are already beginning.
150 years ago this year was the discovery that CO2 traps heat. That is a principle in physics; it’s not a question of debate. It’s like gravity, it exists.”
When queried as to the polarity of the issue between the two parties, he stated,
“It should not be a political issue; it really is a moral issue. It speaks to the responsibility of the present generation to take steps to safeguard those generations yet to come…This should be a bi-partisan issue; it used to be.”

There is a climate of denial in America to science. It is an inconvenient truth that the Earth is warming and that mankind is the culprit. Worse, the political partisanship where the Republican leadership has decided to oppose anything that Obama and the Democrats supports.
What is more worrisome to me is the denial on the Hydrino Study Group that BlackLight Power has discovered a clean very cheap energy technology. The same people who have made it their mission to prescribe a severe carbon diet, are in denial that a silver bullet energy technology exists, so instead are pushing for legislation and taxation.
While it will be hard to deny to deny global warming soon, we will have lost valuable time and resources by failing to embrace a feasible solution.

As a teenager, we used to sit together and discuss how the world climate was being affected by human intervention. We saw it and tried to inform our parents. They stated, we need scientific proof. Now we have scientific proof and more significantly clear signs of environmental pollution having a direct impact on human life and people are still refusing to accept it and more importantly doing something (even small efforts) to help out. So once again valuable change comes from the 3% making the effort not the majority who apparently find more value in gripping than acting responsibly.
