Jobs, Jobs, Jobs took center stage in President Obama’s 1st State of the Union Address. The President stated that “jobs must be our number one focus in 2010”, setting a legislative agenda urging members of Congress to provide him with a "Jobs Bill" (see video below) to help get Americans back to work. The package he proposes includes new infrastructure spending, aid for small businesses, tax incentives for companies that are hiring and investing in capital equipment.
With the national unemployment rate at 10%, the President's emphasis on job creation is no doubt welcomed news for the 15 million Americans who have loss jobs. The year ended with 85,000 (see stats.) more Americans losing their jobs in December, far more then was estimated by economists.
Californians have been hit hard by unemployment, having the fifth highest unemployment rate in the nation above 12% (see graph), trailing Michigan, Nevada, South Carolina and Rhode Island. Since the start of the recession in December 2007, over 1 million Californians have lost their jobs, bringing the total unemployed in California to 2.2 million (see graph). The President's approval ratings have gone south nationally, which is primarily due to the sagging economy.
Just like the out of work NFL player (actor, Cuba Gooding) in the movie Jerry Maguire, out of work Americans are asking President Obama to "Show them the Money" (click for video).
If President Obama delivers, Americans will probably renew his contract for the sequel. He has time, stay tuned.

You know he just needs to fulfill his campaign promises and stop doing extra stuff like that wall street bail out.
Obama has no idea how to create jobs. Little tax credits and massive healthcare and global warming bills do not help and cripple small business.
You want to make jobs? How about an across-the-board tax cut? For EVERYONE?
Obama has three more years in office. We just have to see & wait what's going to happen within the next three years.
If you have to say something negative keep it to yourself. many people are expecting President Obama to perform a miracle, the only miracles I know of was performed by Jesus Christ. The President is only one person. Don't expect him to do a complete 180. Just remember the economy was already screwed up when Bush was in office, therefore President Obama has to fight with the American people as well as the Oval office that was left in ruins by the LAST president. May I say that it will take him awhile to get things back in order from 8 yrs of desctruction by the Bush Administration. Mr. Brewer great job on the article! God bless!
Well said. This article captured not only the essence of what President Obama State of the Union address was about, but also the feelings of most Americans who are suffering during this difficult time.
Great job Brewer!
