Is Michele Bachmann suicidal?

Republican Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann

And just when we thought we'd seen it all, Michele Bachmann went and gave another speech. Speaking in Denver at an event sponsored by the anti-health reform Independence Institute, Bachmann conjured up a jarring array of violent imagery to illustrate her views on the health care reform debate:
"This [health care reform] cannot pass… What we have to do today is make a covenant, to slit our wrists, be blood brothers on this thing. This will not pass. We will do whatever it takes to make sure this doesn’t pass… Right now, we are looking at reaching down the throat and ripping the guts out of freedom. And we may never be able to restore it if we don’t man up and take this one on."

She went on to predict Nancy Pelosi's strategy for promoting the passage of the health reform bill, which apparently includes "break[ing] the arms of the Blue Dogs," and ominously declared that health care reform has "the strength to destroy this country forever."
Why in the world do the people of Minnesota keep electing this psychotic?

There is no doubt that Michele Bachmann suffers from a serious mental disorder. Schizophrenia is a disorder in which the afflicted person has trouble perceiving reality; she experiences hallucinations, delusions, and trouble thinking straight.
Bachmann suffers from serious hallucinations and delusions, that much is certain; she believes, or regularly expresses the belief, that ACORN is an evil organization out to destroy America, the Census is an evil survey out to destroy America, the Cap-and-Trade bill is an evil law out to destroy America, and the public health care option is an evil entity out to destroy America. I struggle to find an issue that she has opposed without accusing it of being the downfall of American society and freedom; only a person suffering paranoid delusions sees monsters in the shadows around every corner.
Schizophrenics also tend to be more drawn to violence, and are more likely to commit suicide than those who are not afflicted. There is no reading of a call to "slit our wrists" that does not recognize a clear cry for help from a person considering causing her own death. Furthermore, her obsession with violence, which is put on display in her speeches, especially the most recent one discussing arm-breaking and gut-ripping, is in line with the schizophrenic archetype of behavior.
So, is this Minnesota Representative suffering from a real and dangerous mental disorder? It's entirely possible, based on her public speech and behavior. Of course, it's equally possible that she's pulling an Ann Coulter and simply pretending to be an unhinged conservative in order to rile up the right and gain fame and money for herself. If it's true, however, that she's suffering from a mental problem, it's likely that her paranoid delusions will prevent her from trusting psychologists (they went to college, the elitists) enough to seek help.

It's a shame you didn't link to the reporter who was actually there. I'm assuming you didn't attend the speech, since all the coverage about Bachmann's comments have stemmed from a single reporter.

Your just one of the lapdogs set loose to bite the ankles of people who are telling the truth. Your tactic to smear opposing views are see through. Since when is standing up for freedom considered delusional? If it weren't for the delusions of prior generations who died for freedom, you still be writing the same garbage.....just in another language.

Just who is calling whom a Schizophrenic? I'm sorry, but this has got to be the sorriest excuse for journalism I have ever seen. No facts, just a lot of name-calling.

While it's cute that you accuse me of the same mental disorder I speculate about in my article, you don't see me calling for us to "slit our wrists" over health care reform.

"Slit our wrists..." what the heck? Everybody who reads about this latest helping of brainlessness from Michelle, should just file her nonsense under the movie title "There will be Stupidity".

Oh sure -- nothing to worry about health care for the millions, which is really about Government power and control - the Leftist bigots can't see that any more than they can see danger in a pack of faceless Czars - who are finally being exposed as the gang of radical thugs they are. Why aren't Leftist Bigots worried about the wireless phone taps and national security act (which have not been repeasled - and why won't they answer that question?

Dean, there are people who can help you. They're called psychiatrists. Nobody but health insurance companies has anything to fear from reform.

As far as I'm concerned, just being a 2009-style republican is a sign of a mental disorder.

I see this article follows the standard examiner.com pattern: a smart, insightful essay followed by dumb comments from right-wingers. Why are so many examiner.com articles like this? Why do you wingnuts even read these articles? I truly don't get it.

NOW do believe that ACORN is evil? or will you continue to defend that organization and ridicule those who could see what you refused to accept?
