Fernando & Greg first aired on Energy 92.7 back in 2005 and was the first commercially broadcast gay morning radio show in the United States. The station went off the air on September 11th, much to the shock of everyone in the Bay Area. The gay friendly radio station was an icon for the LGBT community, and many people woke up to Fernando and Greg in the morning. Fernando and Greg even made it to Out magazine’s list of the top 100 most influential people in gay culture.
Ed Stolz (former owner of KWOD in Sacramento, and current owner of 2 stations in Vegas) purchased Energy for $6.5 million. Energy has now been converted to 92.7 REV the Revolution, and the people from Energy have been let go. So what’s next for the Energy staff? A petition was recently created on facebook called "Save Energy 92.7 FM" and was able to round up over 4 1/2 thousand members in just three days. It's unlikely that the radio station will comeback, but there is a possibility that another station will pick up some of the talent from Energy.

As for Fernando and Greg, they are currently looking for a new station. A recent post on their facebook page says “Watch this space...Greg and I will keep you posted about what's next. In the meantime, e-mail, tweet, facebook every radio station in the bay and let them know they need Fernando and Greg”.

Fernando and Greg were the best morning show I ever listened to. It's aweful they have been taken off the air.
What? This talented people are not going to be missed just in San Francisco!!! THERE IS PEOPLE ALL AROUND THE WORLD WHO LOVE THEM. I can't get over it!!! This is a real bad situation!!! We need them all back working...

Can't believe that this station is gone. The new station is nothing but a bunch of typical ghetto trash music. I will miss all aspects of Energy 92.7
I just don't get it...why purchase a radio station for $6+mil then totally redo the staff and playlists? If indeed 92.7 energy was worth ANY amount of money, it's valuation is based completely on it's staff and listening audience. Why buy something then COMPLETELY change it so that you're neither leveraging the existing staff NOR the listening audience?
Does this person honestly believe that he'll be able to convert energy listeners to new types of music? I doubt even 15% of the listening audience will continue to patron the new 92.7. And, a high percentage of that small remaining percent will be just those too lazy to change their preset buttons in their car radio.
What's the real reason for changing this station? Dare I suggest it's an anti-gay move??

Part of the fabulousness of living in Sf is being able to hear DJ's like Fernando and Greg. Honestly, where else could you hear half of what they got away with!! The Ghetto trash that 92.7 is now playing is a joke. I guess I'll just listen to my CDs. My commute is awful without my "pals" Fernando and Greg. PLEASE come back I miss you!!!!Molly

This is so very, very crushing! I have loved Energy from the day it went on the air and I listen, er DID listen, for hours everyday. I can't say enough good things about the DJs and personalities, especially Fernando&Greg; it would be foolish for another SF station not to pick them up. I'll keep looking for you, boys!
I love Energy 92.7! So sad it's gone. What will I listen to now? I tried the new station for a day but it was horrible. The last thing we need is yet another bad pop auto-station that plays "what your demo is listening to" in order to sell advertising. The fact that the liners say this is the Bay Area's "newest" hit station should be a tip off as to the quality of this new 92.7--it reeks of desperate, disconnected, suckiness. I guess it's back to NPR in the mornings. Sigh.

Greg & Fernando created the best radio station ever with their morning show! How dare they take them off the air!!! I have extreme confidence with their talent and their fan base that they'll be back REAL soon....but this sudden cut-throat job was so wrong and so upsetting!
Another example of media consolidation and how slowly, slowly, local radio stations and the communities they serve (and are supported by) are being systematically wiped out. God! This is sad, so sad! I was naive enough to even think Fernando and Greg might get even wider (like, nation-wide) exposure. They were very, very good and will be missed. Now what do I do in the morning?
No wonder! For the past few days, I've turned on 92.7 to listen to some awesome music, but all I've heard is crap. Not only will Fernando and Greg be missed, but the music too. It was the only radio station playing that type of music, and it was always a blast to turn the channel to 92.7. I've promptly removed the new garbage station and their crap ghetto music from my radio's memory.
This has been a tragic year for bay area radio stations, first my beloved KKSF, now Energy. Why have a radio in the car. Each time one of these niche radio stations bites the dust they are replaced with a drone of mediocrity. Sorry Joey V, Greg, Fernando et al. Wishing you luck on landing on your feet. Hope someone has the balls to bring back the style and music that was 92.7 Energy.
While I enjoyed energy 92.7 and the music that they played I wasn't a huge fan of Fernando and Greg. Initially they were ok but as they progressively got more "fame" the show went more and more downhill for me. The constant arguing, talking about and giving opinions on subjects they absolutely had no comprehension of - once referred to by a friend of mine as a "parrot mimicking a mike". I'll miss the music on energy 92.7 and some of the talent that they had but will not miss Fernando and Greg although I wish them the best I'm happy I don't have to hear that chatter again. Radio stations should get back to their roots - good music and talented DJ's.
Living well is the best revenge, guys...in a couple of months Mr. "I drove a successful franchise into the ground with ghetto crap" Radio will be wondering what hit him!
92.7 was the voice of San Francisco and nothing else compares. It was the only radio station I listened to that was non-satellite. No need to hit the FM button now.
Best to F&G, Trevor, and all of the other unique (and uniquely SF!) talents that 92.7 introduced us to. Thanks for everything and be sure to dance around to James Brown's 'Payback' in a couple of months. (-:

I was just trying to logon to the streaming 92.7 energy channel and it's gone? I am disgusted.
What a HUGE dissapointment!! E92.7 is all I listened to. Fernando and Greg really made me smile in the morning and to all of a sudden hear this repeditive already playing BS form Rev. really p-ed me off! There IS NO OTHER station like 92.7!!!!! Like noted before, I guess I'll just listen to KCBS.
EVERYONE make your Twitter and Facebook, etc. status telling everyone to not listen to 92.7 because the owner is RACIST and HOMOPHOBE and perhaps probably a PEDOPHILE also.
I still cannot believe that Energy 92.7 is gone.
