The Attorney General will issue title and summary for the ballot language aimed at repealing Proposition 8 in California no later than Tuesday November 17. As soon as the approval is given, the Restore Equality 2010 campaign will have 150 days to collect approximately 700,000 valid pen and ink signatures by voters registered in California. To account for the invalid signatures that are bound to show up on the forms, the Restore Equality 2010 campaign is aiming to collect 1 million signatures within the 150 day timeframe. After the signatures have been submitted, individual counties will verify and count the signatures. Approximately 6 to 8 weeks later, the State will make an announcement on whether or not enough valid signatures were submitted to qualify the language for the ballot.
“Winning a campaign isn’t about how much time you have, it’s about having a good plan and strategy,” said John Henning from Restore Equality 2010. “We learned a lot from the No on 8 campaign, and we’re taking that information and applying it towards restoring marriage equality in California. We have a good plan now and we have a lot of ideas for better messaging. We believe we have what it takes to win in 2010.”
The signature gathering will conclude around March or April of next year. If enough signatures are collected, we will know by June if the ballot initiative is approved for the November 2010 election. Man, I'm so glad someone is helping organize. I was hoping we wouldn't have to wait another two years to fight this injustice!
That's nice that these guys are getting their ballot language, but they aren't going to be the ones who qualify, so stop worrying about them.
I, for one, am boycotting Love Honor Cherish, because its seven-person board is...wait for it....seven white men...mostly lawyers. Hardly diversity in action!
I just want to groan and pull the covers over my head that we'll have to go through this yet again. But kudos for everyone continuing the fight.
I think the slogan this time should be, "THE CHILDREN WILL BE SAFE!!!" Maybe that'll help to mitigate the damage the opposition will give.

Yes. How terrible that white male lawyers--some of them straight--would take up the cause of same-sex marriage out of a conviction that it's the right thing to do! We should definitely reject their help and hinder their efforts. Don't need them on our side. What nonsense!
Of course gays need to reach out to every community and build a diverse coalition. But, the fact is that some communities have greater numbers, more money, more power, unique expertise--and are more likely to vote--than others. It wouldn't take too many while male voters to turn the tide.
Start your own group and put all latinos or women on the board if you like. They also have unique skills, knowledge and contacts to contribute. Maybe individual groups that can target specific communities is a more efficient way to make progress. We need everyone in order to win equality.
Don't you get it. People don't except homosexuality because it is not normal . It is a chosen lifestyle , lived out by sexual devaints and perverts. Keep trying but it will never pass!
