Charles Gibson, the host of ABC World News Tonight, inadvertently explained why the mainstream media is not covering the ACORN story. Apparently they don't know about it. As reported by Don Blumer at NewsBusters, when Charles Gibson appeared on the Wade and Roma show on 890 WLS Radio in Chicago this morning, co-host Don Wade posed the following question to Gibson:
Don: Okay, here’s my news question. A Senate bill yesterday passes, cutting off funds to this group called ACORN. Now, we got that bill passed and we have the embarrassing video of ACORN staffers giving tax advice on how to set up a brothel with 13-year-old hookers. It has everything you could want – corruption and sleazy action at tax-funded organizations and it’s got government ties. But nobody’s covering that story. Why?

Gibson: HAHAHAHAHA. HEHEHE. I didn’t even know about it. Um. So, you’ve got me at a loss. I don’t know. Uh. Uh. But my goodness, if it’s got everything including sleaziness in it, we should talk about it this morning.
So there you have it. For anyone wondering why the mainstream media is not reporting the ACORN video scandal, the answer is that they don't know about it. Maybe they need to start reading Don Blumer's column or any of the other hundreds of websites reporting the story.

Is it any surprise? They are not a news agency any more. They are damage control for the White House. I already sent them a form showing my disgust at the ineptitude they are showing. This Democrat is becoming an Independent rather quickly. Call me when the far left has...well...left? I know far too many of my Dem friends that don't want to be associated with them any more.

This is why I don't watch ABC's "Good Morning America" or the "Evening News". Watched them religiously for 20+ years and haven't watched since they broadcast from the White House. When will mainstream media learn, we rely on them to keep our Govt honest, not sleep with it.....
There is no main stream media (MSN) as they don't report news anymore. We need to refer to it as DADT news (don't ask don't tell).
ABC continues to trash any reputation they have left. I don't watch them either.
I used to hold Charlie Gibson up there with Peter Jennings and I watched him for years!! NO MORE!! What a disappointment he's turned into! Honesty,integrity,credibility and all that good stuff seem to be missing! Sorry Charlie!
Yeah, he,he,he, right, Charlie! He didn't know about it, RIGHT??? Actually, I'd say it's more like he doesn't even have a clue! I, too, use to hold him in high regard, but no longer. When I realized Charlie, as well as his fellow "talking heads" so easily bent over for the left wingers, I knew they had lost any objectivity they might have had in their earlier year. It's a good thing Charlie Gibson is leaving. If he is so out of touch that he doesn’t know anything about the ground breaking story on ACORN then one has to wonder what Charlie is smoking. Ignorance, however, is no excuse for his shameful attitude. He needs to apologize (sound familiar?) to the many children who are forced into prostitution daily around the world. Maybe, there is something wrong with Charlie Gibson. He may be having health problems.
I think we have to take him at his word. He may be having some memory problems. He may not be as sharp as he used to be. This happens with age sometimes. This could be the reason for his retirement. He may not know what the Bush Doctrine is anymore.
No, Charlie absolutly was aware of Acorn problems. He was told by an AM radio station and STILL did not to report anything on Acorn last night... not a word. Can't call them mainstream media anymore.... ABC = liberal media.

I don't begrudge Charlie anything, although if we're going to arbitrarily say Wall Street salaries are out of control then so are those for this level of on-screen "talent". Where's the protest of this?

It's kinda shocking, if it's really true that he hadn't heard about the story. As far as I know, the senate had already voted the previous day to withdraw funding.
Although it would still be ridiculous to claim 'it was just some blogger story,' to try and claim ignorance after the senate vote is just shocking.
Oh please, folks, Big Media "knows" about this story. They do as little as they can to cover it, becaue Acorn is part of the Democrat party Machine. Look up the story on the Internet, and the majority of stories are by who? FoxNews, with a VERY FEW others, those others either barely mention it, infer the info was gathered inappropriately, or, whatever. And P.S. no one gives a damn what Charles Gibson thinks, evening news is irrelevent these days, another thing Big Media is uhappy about. Basically, if you're in Big Media, and there's a story you don't like, you just pretend it didn't happen. Problem solved, eh, Charlie. Pathetic.
It is one thing for him to ignore a story on Fox News - most of what they report is misleading crap anyway, so it is understandable to dismiss some of their ranting. But this story about ACORN actually has some teeth to it, and even if he wasn't following it before it should have gotten his attention when the Senate voted on it. While Fox is barely credible as a news organization, that doesn't necessarily mean that EVERYTHING they report is garbage. And considering how widespread the story is on news websites, it is hard to understand how he missed it. Apparently he just reads the teleprompter and goes home.
Isn't Charlie lucky that he can keep the blather about Joe Wilson going for days on end so he can use it as cover for not doing the Acorn story. Didn't know about it? I have a nice bridge to sell him!

It's time for principled Democrats and all other Americans to turn their backs on duplicitous complicit media corruption. Without the Truth, ("just the facts, ma'am") the American populace can be kept in the dark when an arrogant government becomes too powerful and our liberties are usurped. Petition the MSM if you wish, but their ratings should summarily plummet. That would be the best answer to Gibson's incapacity to understand what his real job is.
