FBI agents surveilled an Aurora store that sold hydroponic equipment. They then followed customers who bought hydroponic growing materials to their homes. One such surveillance effort led to the arrest of two men in South Denver who were growing hundreds of marijuana plants. Agents also found nearly half a million dollars worth of guns, cash, and another unnamed controlled substance, Raj Chohan of CBS4 l is reporting.
Kevin Randall, 28, and Luke Short, age unknown, were arrested. Each faces up to 40 years in prison.

Let that be a lesson to you. Don't buy hydroponics equipment from a hydroponics store. Learn the principals, draw up your plans and buy what you need at Lowes or Home Depot. Duh.
I want to know how the police determined that there was a legal right to search the house. How did they know they weren't growing tomatoes? I've known several people who had hydroponic gardens in their basement or greenhouse, but I've never known anyone who grew hydroponic pot.
Can we get A store name,Updates?
If the FBI is camping on a store, it's because they already had person(s) of interest. It would be a waste of time to follow every Joe Q Public who purchase a bag off Happy Frog. Like Ryan S. said there are tons of people in extreme climates that enjoy fresh veggies year round, now is the time to start preparing those gardens. Sifting through all those customers is a huge waste of resources...the hydro store is just ONE of the locations they wer tracked to. By the way, did anyone notice it was the FBI that arrested them, not the DEA. They must have done something other than grow large amounts of weed! duh
These FBI agents need to be put in jail.
It's an easy bust and a nice resume builder. It's like when agents hang out at concerts waiting for someone to sell them a hit of acid. They get a major drug bust, some 20 year old does a mandatory 25. Everybody's happy.
kevin is a great guy. period. it's bull how in this country one's civil rights can be violated in this disgusting manner. "don't tread on me"? yeah right. The hypocrisy in this country where there are multiple dimensions of how this practice is legal and illegal and what it comes down to is the government making absurds amounts of money when these laws are manipulated in their favor. Good people day in and day out are going to prison and tossed in the pile with murderers. These murderers and rapists are getting out in less time than some kids growing some weed. It's ridiculous. Why? Because there's NO MONEY to be made on murderers and rapists. Turn and burn these people. Get em in and get em out. Meanwhile people who are growing some weed are a way easier target and it's billion dollar industry to lock these people up. Its a sad day in America when our government can't distinguish drug offenders from murderers and violent criminals. Don't get me wronmg, I understand that
that growing amrijuana is illegal and as an adult to take responsibility for your actions but the punishment doesa not fit the crime in my opinion. I cant fathom the thought that somebody growing some "illlegal" plants can possibly go to prison for FORTY YEARS while a murderer or rapist can get out in TEWN to FIFTEEN YEARS. How is this right???? Then for all intent and purposes if you can "legally" grow marijuana for chronic headaches and cancer patients and it being decriminalized in our city to some degree, as long as you go thru the proper paperwork, it's ok to grow it. All I'm saying is, so you don't go thru the paperwork and you grow illegally, is it feasible to put someone in prison for 40 years because they didn't go thru the proper channels to grow? Since it's decriminalized it should carry a way lesser punishment than forty years. It's just sickening. Anyway, good luck Kevin. I love you buddy and pray everyday for you. Stay strong.
incredibly stupid the DEA and FBI have been watching hydroponio sales in Denver for years.

The sentence is based on the damage to the private interests NOT the damage to an individual.
You are damaging profits more with MJ than with murder.
