When the Heat chose to bring back Dwyane Wade and add LeBron James and Chris Bosh, they knew there would not be a lot of money to fill out the rest of the roster.

Pat Riley and company are banking on the fact that players will now join Miami at a discounted rate in hopes of chasing the ring.

The first name to pop up after James committed to Miami was Mike Miller. Miller is a sharpshooting swingman whose skills would complement the current trio. Like Wade and James, Miller is multidimensional, meaning he can handle the ball, make smart decisions and knock down an outside shot. Miami will sign Miller to a deal for 5 years and about $30 million.

Miami then shifted focus to a player with championship experience. Longtime Lakers guard Derek Fisher was wined and dined by the Heat over the weekend, with LeBron making a special appearance at his arrival. Fisher leaving the Lakers was a longshot, as he previously left Utah for Los Angeles in the interest of his daughter's health care. While the Heat made a strong pitch to Fisher, it appears the point guard will stay in LA.

Other names have popped up as Heat possibilities. LeBron James' big man partner in Cleveland, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, is said to have interest in joining LeBron in South Beach. "Big Z" could play alongside Bosh in the starting lineup and provide more perimeter shooting for the team.

Udonis Haslem won a ring with the Heat, but Miami will face stiff competition to retain the power forward. Haslem may not be willing to accept a smaller deal, and he has already drawn interest from the Dallas Mavericks.

It may be a while before the Heat roster starts taking shape, and how Riley fills the holes will go a long way to determining Miami's chances at a title.

Miller is not being signed using the mid level exception. The Heat don't have the mle since they are under the cap. They are signing him using cap room.
