Using technology to bless lives

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is constantly moving forward with technologies to bless and enrich the spiritual life of members and seekers of truth.  All of the lesson manuals for Priesthood, Sunday School, and Primary are available online.  The missionary guide, Preach My Gospel is also avaliable.

The site www.mormon.org offers videos and an online chat feature that connects visitors to official representatives of the Church.  We've had the experience here in the Norfolk area where a vistor to the site has requested a free Book of Mormon.  After the chat session, a text message was sent to local missionaries with the contact information.  Within fifteen minutes of the request, the Book of Mormon was delivered into the hands of an interested person!

The scriptures are available as a searchable library at scriptures.lds.org.  They are filled with links to online lexicons, study aids, and cross-references.

One of my favorite features is the wealth of audio materials.  The complete scriptures as well as General Conference audio, worldwide training meetings, and even the hymns and children's songbook are available free as MP3 downloads.

There are also great video resources to be found at videos.lds.org.  The Mormon Messages channel on YouTube is a great way to add Church content to your web site or blog. Mormon New Era Messages has positive video messages directed at LDS youth.  Scripture Stories is an excellent resource for families with small children.  They're great for family home evening.

Additional resources include:

http://www.ldsces.org/Institute%20Manuals.asp   - Institute manuals
http://ce.byu.edu/is/site/courses/index.cfm   - BYU courses, several are free
http://www.ldsvoices.com/index.php?id=57  - Talks, devotionals, FARMS, etc
http://www.byutv.org/ - Talks, scripture roundtable discussions with BYU professors, etc
http://lds.org/ -  Searchable Ensign going back over 30 years
http://radio.lds.org/eng/ - The Church's radio station - talks, etc.
http://byuradio.org/ - Three different radio stations to choose from

Of course, we should not forget the wealth of family history and genealogical research that is avaliable online at www.familysearch.org.  This is a great place for members and nonmembers to research their family tree.

The Internet can often be a place where people participate in unseemly or degrading activity.  Thanks to the Church, it can be a place where we can draw closer to Christ and find strength.  These resources are available free of charge.  Explore the offerings at www.lds.org and www.mormon.org and use these resources to strengthen yourself and your family.

At mormon.org even the information from on line chat with missionaries is not necessarily correct, or so the site warns.

Another great resource to research mormonism is exmormon.org Watch greg censor this comment as an example of mormons being against the idea of free speech and information exchange. (Greg has censored this comment 7 times)

Examination of the Mormon Religion reveals that it is a cult and its adherents are not Christian. Mormonism is based on the teachings and so called revelations of the "Prophet" Joseph Smith. Many of the "prophesies" of Joseph Smith are proven to be false. Smith "prophesied" that Jesus would return by 1861. (History of the Church, vol. 2, p. 189 (This is a Mormon document))Jesus did not-Smith was proven false. Smith prophesied that the temple would be built in Missouri withing his (Joseph Smith's generation)(Doctrines and Covenants 84:2-5,31.(a Mormon document)) It was not built in Smith's generation nor has it been built since. Smith was wrong. The test of a true prophet is not that he is right some of he time but that he is right 100% of the time. (Deuteronomy 18:20-22) God's Word (the Bible) tells us that if any of a "prophets prophesies are false then the prophet is not from God.Joseph Smith was not God's prophet and neither are the false prophets in Mormonism who today claim to be
