The Zodiac Killer murdered several people and terrorized the San Francisco Bay Area in the 1960's and 70's, but he was never arrested.
Although many suspects have been named over the years his identity has never been proven.
He taunted the police and boasted he would never be caught. So far his boast is true.
Zodiac bragged in November 1969 that he wore "transparent fingertip guards" made of airplane cement which prevented law enforcement authorities from obtaining his fingerprints from any of the crime scenes.
At the time of Zodiac's murders there was no such thing as DNA evidence, so fingerprints were the strongest forensic evidence available.
Police believe he killed five people and attempted to murder two others. In his correspondence to newspapers, he claimed 37 victims.
The landscape may have changed dramatically recently when a man gave some newly discovered evidence to the FBI.
Dennis Kaufman claims he recently discovered the disguise worn by the Zodiac Killer during one of his attacks.
"The identity of the Zodiac Killer is Jack Tarrance. He's my stepfather," Dennis Kaufman announced.
Jack Tarrance died in 2006. Kaufman claims that while going through Tarrance's belongings, he made disturbing discoveries. One possible piece of evidence he found was a black hood with a zodiac on it.
It is similar to the hood worn during the vicious 1968 Lake Berryessa attack by the Zodiac Killer.
Kaufman also discovered rolls of undeveloped film which he turned over to the FBI for testing. On the one roll that he did develop were images that concerned him. Kaufman said, "It appeared to be people who were murdered."
Another piece of evidence he turned over to the FBI was a knife still covered with what might be blood.
Kaufman said, "It could be a knife he barbecued with or a knife he murdered somebody with."
There are also handwriting comparisons which Kaufman alleges proves his stepfather was the legendary Zodiac Killer. Kaufman also submitted these comparisons of his father's handwriting which he says are too similar to Zodiac's to be a coincidence.
Kaufman has dedicated eight years of his life in attempting to prove his father is the Zodiac Killer.
He believes there are numberous other victims including his own mother who was suffocated.
"She sat there and told me Jack was trying to kill her and I didn't listen. I can only imagine how she felt. Imagine how scary that would be. This is what kept me going this whole time," he explained.
Since forensic science has advanced to include DNA testing since the Zodiac Killer was on his rampage, there is hope among law enforcement officials that his true identity may at long last be revealed.
In April 2004, the San Francisco Police Department marked the case "inactive" but re-opened it in 2007
The California Department of Justice has maintained an open case file on the Zodiac murders since 1969.

Yet ANOTHER "The Zodiac was my relative" attention-seeker?!
Well maybe one will be right and there will be a break in the case. I would love to see it solved.
Dennis Kaufman is not just another person coming out saying Daddy-Did-It. He's been trying to tell the truth about his STEP-father, Jack Tarrance for years, has had the FBI's backing for years. Jack Tarrance is the only Zodiac Killer suspect left standing out with the Media and FBI's attention. All the others have been cleared. I am looking forward to this year as I believe finally, there will some sort of closure.
A lot of people are going to be very shocked when the FBI finally breaks its silence about Jack Tarrance aka the Zodiac Killer.
Have you been to Dennis Kaufman's message board?
The people running the show over there lack the reasoning or logic to give them credibility.
Their "expert handwriting examiner"(Barto) went to one of those trade schools you see advertised in the middle of the night.
Seriously, they expect us to believe that they are being taken seriously by the FBI? Why would the FBI take Barto's handwriting analysis more seriously than their own legitimately trained handwriting specialists?
Simple example of morons building their self-esteem by claiming they figured out something the experts couldn't.
I won't even go down the list of ridiculous theories they are spinning now because you can simply go to his message board for a good laugh.
But just as a preview, they are now claiming Jack Tarrance is responsible for the Black Dhalia murder,Lipstick Killings, etc. It is almost comical now.
DK has been saying for years,"FBI will be closing this case any day now." Shocking,we are sti
Arthur Leigh Allen
well, if u think about it, the Zodiac was a mastermind. so why would risk everything by doing something stupid like keeping his murder weapons and such, or getting married.
He took other big risks. If I recall there was this random killing of a taxi driver. 2 witnesses said to the police they saw a man run away the scene of the accident. By mistake they understood it was a black man. They (police) saw a white male and didn't take attention because he was white and they had a description of a black person. The modus operandi was that of the Zodiac Killer. I think he took a big risk at that time and it was later established that it was only by pure accident that he wasn't apprehended at the time. Sure he was a mastermind but he took big risks. I mean he could kill without taking those risks.
Buch Dich!!!
Weiss Kraft!!!!
i need to know who did it
so i guess this excuses the Arthur Leigh Allen theory. i don't know how sure i am to just exclude that evidence ! Leigh had something to do with it i can bet my life on it !
A new research shows that the hair sample found on Zodiac's robe was the same as Jack Terrance's. Further investigation is still needed to decided if this evidence is precise enough to be taken onto court. Jack Wackers with CNN News.
Jack,
Thanks for the input. I know Jack Terrance's name is mentioned frequently. It will be interesting to see what all the forensic evidence shows someday.
Arthur Lee Allan
Yes, Arthur Lee Allen is the number one suspect on many people's lists and according to the movie "Zodiac", Allan was picked out of a photo lineup as the person who attempted to kill him by one of the victims.
Based on a lot of information and research, under the FBI and other websites, the Zodiac case remains un-solved,. This case will remain unsolved until some one, like myself, actually does something about it. I will begin doing forensic research for this case in mid May. I also wanted to let everyone know all these things, go to the following websites to find the truth:

"...numberous other victims ..." if you can't even check your spelling how can you expect anyone to believe you checked the facts.
Well Mr.Anonymous, perhaps you should check or compare the futility of a typo error against the facts.
It was elivis, i saw him kill em all. elvis i tell ya elvis
Did they find out yet??
Arthur Leigh Allen was cleared due to DNA and "writer's palm print" not matching. Most of the suspects just don't have enough firm evidence to convict. We may never know who it is.
Just keep in mind everybody that in the "My Name Is..." letter the Zodiac sent to the San Francisco Chronicle on April 20th 1970, it shows in the cipher that the Zodiac's name is 13 characters long, first and last name i am guessing. Now, I have done some looking at the Zodiac's other ciphers that were sent to the Examiner, the Chronicle, and the Time-Herald on July 31st 1969. They seem to show that the Zodiac's main symbol is the letter "D." Plus, if it is on his hood he wore, perhaps his name starts with the letter D. I am just brain-storming, but I hope the police will finally discover who this man is and, if he is still aliv, put him behind bars. I hope the San Francisco Police Department will see this and take my tips into consideration and hopefully, finally crack this case.
